I really think good German Pilsner is the centering point of the Universe – all good things emanate from this great brew! My boozy rendition of the Big Bang. A beer singularity!

Radeberger competes here in the US primarily with Bitburger. Honestly, at 4.8% ABV I can’t discern much of a difference between the two. Both are excellent, solid Pilsners from das Deutsche Vaterland. Perfection! Prost!

A glass of that jasmine rice fizzy yellow swill that I kegged on Monday.

Three pounds of cheap ALDI jasmine instant rice got the job done. There's something clearly jasmine-ish that pops through in the finish and quickly fades, letting you know that it's a jasmine rice lager. It doesn't scream, "I'm a jasmine rice beer! I'm a dumb stunt beer!" It's a pleasant, subtle July/August beer and I'm very pleased with it. Next year, it'll go into one of my 6-gal kegs.

In these inclement times, sacrifices must be made if we, as a species, wish to survive.
That's funny. Wife and I literally just watched the finale of 2004 Battlestar Galactica...common theme.

Wind is picking up but looks like we'll be missed by a mile..

Nuts, I've never seen that. It annoys me that there are only so many words and it's subsequently becoming harder each and every day to write something original and new.

As someone that writes songs, this is especially infuriating.

We need new, better words.

Frak yeah we do! 😂

When Maya Angelou spoke a few years back here, she said something akin to, "There are only 26 letters in the English alphabet, and there are only so many ways to put them together." She was both lamenting at how difficult it can be to create new work and also remarking on her own Imposter Syndrome, "Someday they'll realize I'm a fraud." Brilliant woman.

As the retirement location world turns, got the wife thinking away from the tinderbox we call California to at least a trip to Asheville, NC. Next spring... I'll buy that for a dollar!

If I ever do this again, x3 the peppers and x2 the cinnamon. 12% Oak/RiS

Not to get too deep into the subject, but the issue with words is the human mind. We take a word and impart our own experience/intellect into it. For example, "The electromagnet field " could mean seeing the mind of God to one or completely nonsense or even repulsive to another. When In reality, it's just a thing

Damned semioticians, there's one in every crowd, ruining everything for everybody.

My youngest son is the semitone or whatever. I'm a math guy. Tried to get him to be a lawyer, you know, so I wouldn't have to work.. bummer.😔

10% goodness and pregaming starts now!

As a guy with useless degrees in useless fields doing rather well for himself, semiotics is one of the least useless of the useless fields because it teaches you how to think, really, really think in a structured way. It's very much akin to math, actually. In a way, it's kinda like theoretical math insofar as it probes the fuzzy limits of what we can say we know in a highly structured manner. Sure, it's fuzzy out there, but you need a solid structure to reach it. It's nothing more than logic, really.

Frankly, I'd gladly hire a semiotician. He knows how to think in a structured way, rather than feel...a vanishingly rare skill in this day and age of idiocy run rampant.

[Edit: A final thing worth mentioning is this: The traditional "hard sciences" are ever increasingly face planting into the realm of the fuzzy: first it was the infuriating uncertainty of the various quantum theories, now we're rushing headlong into the fuzzy Gong Show that is AI and, if it ever comes to fruition, quantum computing is a complete fuzzy fiasco. Kiddo might be in exactly the right place at the right time, for no other reason than he know how to think in a world gone barking mad.]

I truly hope that someday we can go out and have a couple beers together, face to face. These are the conversations I cherish brother. 🍻

Are you seeing any of that Santa Barbara fire? Smoke?
They seem to have so many fires in that area. My great grandparents owned a lemon orchard near there years ago and I remember my grandma saying a big fire burned right to the edge of their property at one time. I still have an uncle who lives in Carpinteria. His son is an engine boss for CalFire. I’m sure he’s busy now.
