I am sure this is nothing new with the folks that frequent here...

I have experimented around with Arduino in the past quite a bit. Anyone ever build a fermentation monitor using one (Or Pi)? They have O2 sensors, CO2 sensors, and ethanol sensors. Add that to a graphical display, and you could trend the data and see how your fermentation is proceeding and when its done.

So, has anyone done this?

Search BrewPi for one. This is fairly common practice for those with tech backgrounds.

Soooo many projects already existing on HBT using Arduinos, RaspberryPi's and ESP8266/ESP32 chips.
Check the DIY Projects forum under Fermenters...

Cheers!

I know you asked about 'building', can't comment too much there. I have a Tilt hydrometer and a PI setup running Fermentrack, and really like it:

I still plan on getting around to automatic fermentation temp control and the like, but right now I just use it for logging and graphing temp and gravity over time.

Thats the right amount of geek for me! Thanks for the tip.

Dude. Got my Tilt, built up the Pi Zero, attached a small 3.5" display, and its all up and running. A bit of a learning curve on the Pi, but that was fun. The display is just so I can interact directly (or use SSH) with the Pi when I need to. Love the data out of it! Only had it running for a couple days at the end of my fermentation, so I am looking forward to using it during my next.

Thanks again for the tip. The geek in me has been freaking out about this. lol

Awesome! Glad the build went smooth and you got it going :)

Smooth? LOL No. I ended up destroying two Pi's in the process. LOL My soldering iron tip was far too large. (GF doesnt complain though ;) ) Once I figured out the nuances of getting Pi setup, imaged, and so on, things worked flawlessly. Was a lot of fun actually.

so many bad jokes!!! Flux'd her real good? Was it really hot? Little solder can still salute I see! (ok I'll stop now and apologies in advance to to anyone this is bound to offend :D )
