Went to bed last night with predictions of one or two inches of snow; woke up to almost one foot.

Went to bed Friday night with predictions of 6-8 inches...woke up saturday morning with a glazing of ice. Can a southerner just once get a decent snowfall...especially on the weekend.

Sounds like you need to "get away" like the Southwest Airlines commercials say. Warm here now, mid 70s and sunny. See you soon :)

No offence, but not bloody likely. ;)
I'll take the occasional snowstorm over the regular hurricanes anytime.

Living next to a Great Lake adds extra mystery to the mix. Sometimes the lake makes it so no snow falls near the lakefront, and sometimes we have "lake effect" snow where moisture rises off the lake and comes back down as snow when there are no clouds.

Snowblowed the other day. Planned ahead because the last forecast I checked said we might get a few inches over a few days.

Next morning 6 inches. Rain forecast for later in the day. Went home at lunch and fired up the snowblower and snowblowed in the rain before it turned to slush. Disaster averted!

We've had freezing rain on and off and 2 nights ago it was blowing 30-50 MPH and whiteouts.

Still better than sub zero temps. I'm just glad my wheel cylinder decided to blow out on a warm day yesterday. It was probably 25F or so while I changed it, shoes, brake line (because you don't just unscrew a brake line on a 20 yo Jeep!), and bled the system. I'll probably do the other side this weekend to even things out. Supposed to be up around 30F.

There's 15 inches of snow in my yard, and a pile from shoveling the driveway that's taller than my truck. Currently 13*F. If it's not too windy, I'll be grilling outside this weekend. Best thing about grilling in winter is that your beer never gets warm.
Regards, GF. :mug:

27 below this morning with a high of zero today and 25 below again tonight. This is one time I wish my #$%^@%& weatherman was wrong. Heating bill might cut into my beer money! Not! Got to have a few priorities. Still, cold is better than hurricanes and tornado's.

I'll not complain too much about the guessers around here. But I do fvcking hate the weather roller coaster we have.

We had 3 inches of snow on the ground over the weekend. Then it was 73 degrees yesterday. Today it is 24 degree. And by morning they are guessing at how much ice will be coating all the outdoor things.

OK, but I think you get a LOT more snowstorms than we do hurricanes. Anyway, if you like the snow, you can have it all.

Not like this one, it dropped the most snow in decades. A lot of years we get no snow at all.
I don't particularly like snow, but I dislike hot humid weather even more.

The snow on our roof is actually insulating our house and the heater is going on way less than usual at the teens outside.
Very little cuts into my beer/homebrew supplies money.

I like a little snow too, but when it gets thick enough it melts underneath, runs down the roof, and freezes into big ice dams. Need to fix my insulation problem!

Plus we have a flat roof on part of the house, and it's an old house, so I try to shovel anything more than like 4-6 inches.

I have no idea what the flat part looks like right now after the snow and rain. I better go check it.

The ice is coming! The ice is coming! Save the children, hide yo wife!

Says the Paul Revere weather guessers, all through the night.

State offices closed, County offices closed, Church services cancelled, Public schools closed,....

Forgot to set my alarm last night. Woke up at 7:45, looked out the window. Not a damned thing. ****, I'm late for work.

Walked into the local Ace on the eve of a big storm. I was in an apartment at the time, so like I gave a F about the weather. Anyway, walked in and saw a camera crew and local TV reporter were standing by the shovels at the entrance waiting for their "man on the street" "so what do you think about the weather" bs interviews. I practically ran away when she started walking in my direction. Hell with that.

It was +07*F yesterday & I was outside grilling steaks. I had to set my cider in the sun so it wouldn't freeze solid, as it was, it got a little slushy, but I didn't mind; refills helped to melt the ice in my mug.

Aw, man I forgot I was going to grill burger or something this weekend! it got kind of busy anyway.

Temps got to about 20 IIRC. Supposed to be about freezing today and high 30s tomorrow. Chance of freezing rain again. I can already hear my daughter's phone going off as the kids discuss the chances of there being no school. They had most of last week off.

I will take this opportunity of warm weather to change the Wheel Cylinders on the left side of my Jeep.

So, after work, work on Jeep. Get workout. Cook something on the grill.

Gotta love spring!

Another snow day for the grandkids. None of the snow from last Tuesday/Wednesday's storm has melted and we haven't gotten above 32 all week with 1-4 inches of freezing rain on the way later today.

Above freezing for about another week. Nice January thaw. I'll enjoy it while it's here, because I know before long it will be back to sub 0 temps at night and probably blowing freezing cold air.

Having a tropical heatwave here in MT; temp is 30*F, extremely foggy & a glaze of ice over everything. Not much slicker than wet ice. I might just grill today, yes, really. :)
Regards, GF.

51F here yesterday and bright sunshine. I went outside to clean up/cover the grill and once I was done, I just couldn't bring myself to go back inside. Wound up walking around the park until clouds rolled in. Lots of others were doing the exact same thing, too.

Back to the 30s and snow tonight through Tuesday.

Saturday wanted to brew, but didn't have any malt. Off to GR I went. Up north it was really foggy and overcast. Gloomy, but still fairly warm.

In GR it was sunny and warm. Felt like spring was here! On the way back just north of GR I could literally see the fog bank up ahead. Goodbye sunshine.

I'm afraid to check the weather for fear winter is going to return.

Yesterday I hacked my way through 4 inches of solid ice to uncover the storm drain & carve a little 4" wide trench about 6' long from the storm drain to the small lake that formed in the street from meltwater; High temp of 34*F. I love the snow, but I'm not a fan of ice.
Regards, GF.

The temperature here in finland is very easy to describe...if you don't like it, wait an hour....

it's been bouncing between 0 F and 40F practically from day to day with nights being a bit below 0..

Getting cooler again. Snow is falling in big, pretty flakes. Goodbye green grass (And brown, muddy grass...)

Well, hopefully we only have a few weeks left of actual winter weather. I'd like a decent cold snap. Maybe 1 week. I'd like an early spring this year.
