It bugs me that stuff you scrap at one settlement does not transfer elsewhere. It was pissing me off when I knew I had plenty of a material, but when I went somewhere else, I didn't have enough to build a gun turret.

IIRC, the in game tip says you have to set-up a supply line to do this. To do that you need the local leader perk.

Thanks for those tips. I put the purifier in the river at Sanctuary and that's kind of a haul from the street where the workshop is. I was hoping to keep the generator up there. I tried moving the generator down by the river but I still couldn't connect. The line turned red when I attached it to the purifier. I assumed that meant I was missing a component. Maybe what that really meant was that there was some obstruction. I will move it again to see if I can get a clearer shot between the two.

So I can build power poles and use those to string up power lines down to the river?

Just be sure that all powered items hooked up to the power lines don't exceed the power going into them.

Also, you can daisy-chain generators into a power line to add power. But it's cheaper to put in one big generator than it is to put in many small ones.

Steam Fall sale should be starting tomorrow from what I have heard. Fall usually isn't the best sale but it is something.

Is anyone else playing Tomb Raider? I can't say it is as good as the first. Less intriguing storyline so far. But there are some fantastic graphics.

I played the first one and really liked it. Picked up the second one with the buy 2 get one free deal a couple weeks ago but haven't even unwrapped it yet. With COD and now FO4 taking the spot light.

I figure if it's even close to the first one it'll do.

I got a chance to play a little last night and figured I would start rebuilding the castle. Got to a point I couldn't place any more items, it said "full" or something of the like. The bar at the top right of the screen was yellow and "full".

Not sure what the limitations are there, I know I should be able to build more stuff. I'm thinking it's cuz I only have 4 people there but not sure. I heard somewhere that you supply lines also add to the "cap" of people that can be at the settlement, not sure if that's the case but I moved one of my supply lines off the truck stop and sent them to the castle. Guess I'll see if that helps.

I had all my supply lines stemming from the truck stop as that was the central location. If I start getting people at the castle now I will see if I can make that the central one for more people.

Really not sure if it matters or not.

Yes, or you can do what I did and put it on top of that little retaining wall. Will make a screenshot for you after work if you want.

Supply line hub doesn't really matter. As long as two sites are connected through other settlements its just as if they were directly connected. You can connect them in a daisy chain and not worry or have them all hub.

BTW for all the non FO4 fans, sorry to be continually adding to the fallout branch of this topic.

It's too late. I even saw a few spoilers I would've rather not have.. at least the threads active for the nerds at work.

I decided if I was finally going to put in some time, there's no point going through on normal with my play-style. I restarted and turned it up to survival difficulty. The game is much better for me. You can't just run into a bad situation and stick yourself with your entire supply of stimpaks. So, I'm enjoying now a bit.

Also fought through the first mission of Black Ops campaign while I was prepping dinner. Same thing, I know I'll never play the campaign again so I do it on the hardest difficulty. This will be a challenge. "Realistic" is the hardest difficulty and it is essentially hardcore mode, one hit kill.

Sorry if I have been one to be spoilerish. was trying to not do that.

Dont know if you all have been playing around with different followers. I highly reccomend you do so as you can get perks by impressing them (any but your lil doggy that is). Just got one for having Codsworth love me and now I get like 10% damage reduction from robot energy attacks. Decided to change him out for someone else and try to get theirs as well. Hint, he hates when you give people drugs. the little goodie two shoes.

Hahaha, dude. I was seriously about to build my character around using the dog, get the perk for him to hold people down so I could smash their faces and everything...

I finally got power down to the purifier. My problem was two-fold.
1) There were obstructions to the power lines. I figured the power lines would optimize themselves on the ground once you connected them. Nope.
2) There must be some distance limit between power structures. I ran a line from a tall pylon to a generator and even though there were no obstructions and the wire was above ground for the entire span, it still wouldn't let me do it. Perhaps there is a required distance above the ground that must be maintained? I don't know. But once I built enough pylons, I was able to run the power line down to the purifier on the riverbank. I somehow ran some power lines from the generator into the ground and now I can't remove them. So now I just have random power lines sticking out of the ground. Very weird. And that cost me some copper that would have been useful. Also, when you build something and then scrap it, you don't recover all the components that went into it. That sucks.

Am I the only one who build up Sanctuary a little TOO much? I took the idea of defenses way too seriously and build metal walls ALL around the settlement, with the exception of one doorway where I placed 6 turrets. So far the place has been attacked by raiders and Synths several times and the most Ive had to do was repair one turret(before adding 4 more). It seems to be going well for the settlers:)

On the other hand there is nothing I like to do more than grab a glass of home brewed beer and sit down to explore the wastelands. I had forgotten how much I loved FO3 and FO-NV.

I started out that way and couldn't get what I wanted to work so I scrapped all of it and just placed turrets all over the place. FYI, getting on top of some of the houses is a PITA.

I have yet to be raided. I am about to shoot that fuqqer with the hammer tho'. He keeps making me think it is gun shots in the distance.

Build a stairs to reach the roof, then relocate it to the next house, and so on?

You can, while in place mode, Look up and it will build it on the roof for you.

Assign him to cleaning out the septic system. That'll teach him

The what?
There is a perk you can buy from your level up perks that helps doggie hold people down. The perks I was referring to earlier are like the ones for reading magazines, freebie ones just from making the follower love you.
