Anyone reuse Trader Joes 750 ml ginger brew bottles? Just wondering if 2.99 is a good deal on those bottles, regardless of contents?

I picked up some yesterday. And yes, they are great bottles. The ginger ale is pretty damn good too. Its great with a few fingers of bourbon. :D

So being fairly new to homebrewing (first batch in primary last night) from what I can tell this is a good deal for those bottles right? I have a trader joes pretty close to me but never go. Is $2.99 the normal price for that ginger or some sort of sale right now?

It's a seasonal item. If you like ginger ale the price is good if you don't like ginger ale price is OK. If you're going just for the bottles, ask if they have any empties. The Trader Joes near me was offering samples and I got three empties then bought one full one so I could bottle the gallon of mead that was ready.

My neighbor loves this product and buys it buy the case (9 bottles ) and gives me the empties. I've have 40 of them. These bottles are heavy duty. The cap is plastic instead of ceramic unfortunately.

Being green I just make sure I keep them in their cardboard case and tucked or away in a corner of the basement when filled with beer. I use them for cider, and the green doesn't matter.

I did have a bottle of my English pale ale the other day and there was a hint of ginger. I guess that bottle needed attention before sanitizing.
