Work emergency so I am driving in rather than sitting with my feet up. Think I will rock some drum and bass for the drive-in to get my head rolling. Starting with dj patife, for some Brazilian dnb. Then LTJ Bukem, Makoto, Seba & Paradox. Keeping it to the jazzy cerebral liquid funk styles.

Typed this in earlier but never posted....A true original above and beyond writing "Gentle on My Mind"

John Hartford - Aero-Plain (1971)

Ray Charles - Genius + Soul = Jazz (1960)
Ray Charles - Genius Loves Company (2004)
Ray Charles - The Best of Ray Charles: The Atlantic Years (1994)

Samantha Fish is coming to town today for a free show at the park, so:

Samantha Fish - Runaway (2011)
Samantha Fish - Black Wind Howlin' (2013)
Samantha Fish - Chills & Fever (2017)
Samantha Fish - Belle Of The West (2017)
Dani Wilde, Victoria Smith & Samantha Fish - Girls with Guitars (2011)
Dani Wilde, Victoria Smith & Samantha Fish - Girls with Guitars - Live (2012)

Morning Guitars:
Michael Hedges -Torched (1999)
John Fahey - Of Rivers and Religion (1972)

The Grateful Dead - Dave's Pick's Vol. 26, Albuquerque 1971 (2018)
Santana - Lotus (1974)
Jimi Hendrix - Freedom: Live at the Atlanta Pop Festival 1970 (1992)

Duals from original vs cover in between typical Father's Day festivities today (out to breakfast soon and bbq later)

I'm not strict in whether or not its the true original artist:
Jimi Hendrix vs Stevie Ray Vaughan -VooDoo Chile slight return
Motorhead vs Drain STH - Ace of Spades
Bo Diddley vs George Thorogood - who Do You love
Stan Getz vs Antonio Carlos Jobim vs Nat King Cole vs Sammy Davis Jr - Girl from Ipanima

I went to see Jimmie's Chicken Shack last night, so my ears are a bit off today. No sense wasting great music on poor hearing this morning, so:

Leo Moracchioli - Leo Metal Covers Volume 1-17 (2015-2018) on shuffle. It's been on for hours, and will stay that way today.

I went and saw Dropkick Murphys and Flogging Molly on Thursday, and am going to see Bill Kirchen tonight, so today I'll fiddle with Pandora to find a nice mix of rockabilly, Irish punk, and roots rock. Not sure how well that'll go, but I intend to find out.

Lacking motivation today, so I need a little help to get moving:

ReVamp - ReVamp (2010)
ReVamp - Wild Card (2013)
Otep - The Ascension (2008)
Otep - Generation Doom (2016)
Kittie - Spit (2000)
Kittie - Oracle (2001)

I've been motivated this morning, fixing the sprinkler system for my SIL. An hour travel time each way and two hours in the mud!!! For this afternoons heat fest:

Dillard & Clark - The Fantastic Expedition of Dillard & Clark (1968)
Dale Watson - The Truckin' Sessions (1998)
Gregg Allman - The Gregg Allman Tour (1974)
Dawes - Passwords (2018)
The Seldom Scene - Old Train (1974)
The Kinks - Muswell Hillbillies (1971)

Going to use a few vacation days this week, starting tomorrow. Rest and relaxation starts NOW?!

A.M.
Rory Block - Ain't I A Woman Blues (1992)
Susan Tedeschi - Hope and Desire (2005)
Blue Highway - Marbletown (2005)
Charley Pride - The Essential Charley Pride (RCA) (1997)

P.M.
Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady (1979)
The Breeders - Last Splash (20th Anniversary Edition)(1993)
Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers - Americano (2004)
Slobberbone - Everything You Thought was Right was Wrong (2000)

I haven't listened to these in years, so today it is:

Led Zeppelin - Box Set (1990)
Led Zeppelin - Box Set 2 (1993)

My favorite thing about these is the track order. We've all listened to their albums in their entirety, over and over again. But hearing all of these songs in a completely different order, and songs from different albums interspersed with one another, is fascinating.

Some yardwork, some smoked food, and possibly a brewday. Starting NOW.

Usually I'll have some sort of inkling as to what direction I'd like to head in, but this morning I have no idea.

I'll start easy, with:
Melody Gardot - My One And Only Thrill (2009)
Madeleine Peyroux - The Blue Room (2013)
and see where that takes me. Inspiration has just struck me, so today will be ladies day. I'll continue with:
The Go-Go's - God Bless the Go-Go's (2001)
The Donnas - Greatest Hits Vol. 16 (2009)
L7 - Bricks are Heavy (1992)
Betty Blowtorch - Are You Man Enough (2001)

I can't decide on a direction either. I've got down-tempo nu-jazz and electro-swing going on Pandora while enjoying the morning coffee. But moving to the garage soon for a clean&reorg and swap the camper shell for a tonneau cover on the truck. Thinking NIN, Tool, Korn and Manson.

Definitely need to switch when moving to the garage. As much as I love electro-swing, it's not something I would want to be thoroughly enjoying where the neighbors might see me. :D

I couldn't care less about what the neighbors think:rock:
I'm already the weird guy with weird music who always has smoke coming from the back yard and is probably cooking meth or making bombs with all of those shiny kettles and tubes and stuff.

Nevermind that its my smoker/bbq and brewing gear, I like them staying away.

Good point. And here I thought I was the one avoiding my neighbors. Looks like it's probably the other way around. :ban:

20 years ago we were the last house on the road, I indoctrinated my closest neighbors to my crazy music, gardening, greenhouse and brewing....only complaints come from newbies... ain’t going nowhere... just sayin’

In order from "most neighbor friendly" to "least neighbor friendly", tho I suspect I'll be the only one outside working in the Texas heat this afternoon

Rayland Baxter - Feathers & Fishhooks (2015)
