I don't have Ella and Louis, but I do have the follow up, and will put that on later. 40 years since Skynyrd's plane crash, so I'll do a bit of them as well.

Broken Social Scene - Forgiveness Rock Record (2010)
Lee Roy Parnell - Midnight Believer (2017)
Benjamin Booker - Witness (2017)

Went downstairs to let the dog out and stopped by the keg fridge to check the carbonation on the Doppelbock I kegged last week. Tasted the sample and the line "...the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert" came to mind. Now, I have "Sunday Morning Comin' Down" stuck in my head.

As ear worms go, it could be a lot worse.

Mark

I'm liking the newcomers here!

@Shwagger Koffin Kats are always a good listen!
@grampamark That's probably one of my favorite songs Kristofferson ever wrote.

Today was work. Work, work, and work. So, some 70's on the radio there, and some NOFX when I got home and brewed. My Sunday mornings have gone to **** here lately. Hopefully things will look less busy, and more relaxing on Sundays, soon.

I use Pandora at school, when I'm teaching, and have found some outstanding albums/songs that I then went out and bought either as a CD or as a digital download. Pandora is a great way to stay abreast of all the new music that my students are listening to, whether it is cumbia, k-pop or ????

With the digital saturation in the 21st century, I don't want to play everything, just what I want to hear today. May be a quaint sense of being in control of my own existence...Tomorrow, a different soundtrack........ and to each his own. I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!

I still haven't finished converting all of my physical media to digital, (been at it for years, still have several more years to go, at best), and the digital stuff I can access from anywhere, but if I want something I haven't yet ripped, it's downstairs only. I really like Pandora, but find the more I "thumbs up" something, the worse the stations get. Significantly more narrow, actually. It loses it's great appeal to me.

For today:
Caravan Palace - Panic (2012)
The Vaughan Brothers - Family Style (1990)
Robert Plant - Manic Nirvana (1990)
Kilmaine Saints - Whiskey Blues and Faded Tattoos (2017)
Spin Doctors - Pocket Full Of Kryptonite (1991)

Still trying to convert all my music over, finished with all my CD's but the cassettes and LP's are slow going. So many cassettes from my college DJ stint, including the Toadies demo tape, some live in studio Joe Ely and Jimmie Dale Gilmore and others that I really need to preserve. But not today, gonna be sunny and 70, so outside I must go.......

August Burns Red (Holiday) radio

I hope everyone had wonderful Christmas, and wish everyone a safe, peaceful and prosperous 2018!

I bought more music in 2017 than I brewed beer. But after a 20 year layoff, 45 gallons was not bad. Still working out the kinks in my procedures and equipment, and the fact that I'm not as young. How I brewed 20 gallons (4 separate 5 gallon batches) back in the day, I can't fathom, especially using a stove. Had a robust porter and kolsch that turned out very good, the other batches were middle of the road. Like my plant breeding projects, always trying to get something better....

Ten favorite releases 2017
Ray Davies - Americana
Hiss Golden Messenger - Hallelujah Anyhow
Jason Isbell - The Nashville Sound
Nikki Lane - Highway Queen
Benjamin Booker - Witness
Royal Blood - How Did We Get So Dark?
Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings - Soul Of A Woman
Tift Merritt - Stitch of the World
Protomartyr - Relatives in Descent
The Replacements - For Sale: Live at Maxwell's 1986

2017 was a very productive brew year for me, with 22 five gallon batches. Not included are various wines and meads that found their way into carboys over the year. I'd like to up that next year, (batch count, not gallons). I've been doing this for a decade, and continue to grow my knowledgebase and skillset. The thinning out of excess equipment acquired over the years has also begun.

Musically, most of my dollars went to concert tickets, the most recent being last night's show, the August Burns Red annual Christmas show with my daughter. I still wasn't quite the oldest guy there, so I'll keep going every year until I am.

Highlights for me were finally getting to see Van Morrison, taking my wife to see Reo Speedwagon, (her favorite), and the Counting Crows/Matchbox Twenty show was very well done. My daughter and I did an additional August Burns Red show earlier this year, where I surprised her with VIP meet and greet tickets. Very nice group of guys, and a high energy show, as usual.

Releases from 2017 I really enjoyed, and will be my playlist for this morning:

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - Louie, Louie, Louie
Van Morrison - Roll With the Punches
Kilmaine Saints - Whiskey Blues and Faded Tattoos
Flogging Molly - Life is Good
Caro Emerald - Emerald Island
Lindi Ortega - 'Til the Goin' Gets Gone
Alestorm - No Grave but the Sea
Wage War - Deadweight
August Burns Red - Phantom Anthem

Moving slow this morning, but got lots to do, so off I go with the following:

Little Feat-Bootleg 9-19-74
Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland 40th Anniversary Collection (2008)
Eric Clapton - Rainbow Concert (1973)

I'm going to revisit the late 80's today. Decadent and fun times.

Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction (1987)
Motley Crue - Dr. Feelgood (1989)
Poison - Open Up And Say... Ahh! (1988)
