Stupid cat! Busted Hands

I love my cats, don't get me wrong, but sometimes I want to kill them.
I was moving my glass top coffee table this morning when one of my cats decided she just had to show her affection for me just as I started to walk with it. She got in between my feet and I lost my balance! Long story short, I have 4 stitches, some minor nerve damage (can't feel 3 finger tips), and my living room and kitchen look like a war zone with glass and blood everywhere. the cats of course are unscathed...though they are locked in a back room until my wife can finish cleaning up the glass. I'd help,but my hands are bound up like a mummy's, covered in cuts and scratches.
Thankfully,it could have been much worse. I dropped the table before I fell, or it would have been more than just my hands sliced up. We've got great medical coverage and the doctor was optimistic that the feeling will come back to my fingers over the next couple years. The only really bad news is I was going to transfer my chocolate stout to secondary today and I have no usable thumbs for the next few days.

I read your story and thought "Why are you here when you should be at the hospital?" Glad to know you're OK, even though you could be better.

I love cats more than anything, but if they get in my way while I'm carrying something heavy or bulky, they get punted into the end zone. It teaches them a valuable lesson.

Stouts benefit from aging, so waiting a few more days will only make it tastier.

If the dogs come near me when I'm busy they get a quick kick up the bum.
They have learnt not to come near me when I'm busy.

Bummer of an accident. I've been in that position a number of times and agree with the others: best solution is a convincing kick or sometimes an angry shout will make the cats scram.

The maddest I ever got at one of my cats was when she was running around the dining room like a nut and tripped over/ran into the laptop power cord, promptly whipping it off the dining room table and crashing to the floor. Luckily it survived, and therefore so did she live for another day.

Being that we often have heavy and/or dangerous equipment running, the dogs quickly learned the command "BACK!" Now, when I say it, you won't believe how fast a 105 lb lab can walk backward. As for the cats, I can make a loud hissing sound with my mouth and they scamper. Or, with the new kitten, I have a can of the aerosolized "cleaning duster" handy, so now she thinks the world's biggest, meanest cat lives somewhere amongst the computer power cords.

If I was thinking I would have locked them in the bedroom before I started moving breakables. I do that when I move full carboys. Live and learn.
