This may be a simplistic, dumb, question, but how do people typically store their brewing salts, acids, etc?

I'm going to try to modify my water for the first time this weekend, and have calcium chloride, gypsum, lactic acid... I know dry is important, but do any of these need to be refrigerated, vacuum sealed, anything fancy?

Or can I just put them in zip lock bags and squeeze as much air out as I can, and put them in my brew supply drawer?
 
I keep them in the original containers they came in and store them at room temp. The only thing I've noticed is that after a few month the salts will start to clump as they pull moisture out of the air.
 
OK sounds good. I was worried I'd find it unusable after a short time if if wasn't perfectly stored.

They are usable. But the CaCl2 is very hygroscopic (it sucks moisture out of the air like crazy), and will need some care if you want to be able to estimate the amount to use. For some of the math in that (prepare yourself!): https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=501377
 
FWIW, I keep this stuff in a non-climate controlled outbuilding. (A.K.A. The Beer Barn) The temp can approach 120 in the summer and of course get as cold as a witches +!+ in the winter! I haven't noticed any issues with the salts or the finished beer. Been working good for me so far...

Not saying you should or shouldnt do the same. I'm just saying I haven't had any noticeable issues with this.

I will be taking an approach similar to yours, except indoors... lol
 
I purchase the CaSO4 and CaCl2 in 1 lb pkg and fill screw top bottles for using on brew day and vacuum seal the rest and store them together in a cabinet in the brewery.

I keep my salts and such in a small bin inside a bigger tupperware bin in my BrewBQ shed outside. Like the other guy in this thread, it could hit well north of 100* in the summer, but maybe like 40 in the winter. Mine has clumped up some. I've considered getting some silica gel packs to toss in the bin with my salts. Good idea or nah?
