But at least you don't have to pay to lick the spoon until the cookies are done, as opposed to everyone else who has to pay in advance before the cookies are created with the promise that they will be tasty and exclusive
And you don't even know what kind of cookies. I'm not very fond of macadamia!

I'm not sure if what they're asking is

"Hey, can we sell the product they helped us make to them so that they can sell it to customers at their brewery/brewpub/store"

But it sure sounds like it. Which if that's the case, HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA, Oh man, what the hell is the point of this Futures?

New message from Stone today:

"We want your thoughts about something related to these special beers.

Some of our collaborators want to purchase cases, but it seems uncool for us to make them pay in advance for beers that they're going to help us make. We didn't think about that when we created the program, and we basically promised that the only way ANYONE could get bottles at these prices would be to buy “beer futures” via our Indiegogo campaign.

We’d like to allow our collaborators to buy cases of their collaboration beers without having to pay for them in advance like everyone else. They’d pay the same price, but not until the cases are shipped to them. Would you be cool with that?

Please use the Comments section here on our Indiegogo page to let us know what you think."

So it's ok to ask us to fund the beers years in advance but it's "uncool" to ask the contributors to do the same? Honestly I don't know if anyone would have even expected the contributors to have to buy into their own beers, so asking people seems so much weirder than just not asking.

A brewery ran to kickstarter for a cash grab and publicity without fleshing out the details? You don't say.

I'm still confused by this statement

For this, Surly’s first-ever collaboration with us, Surly and Stone promise they’re going to make you a beer that will take time and a lot of money to brew,

I mean, I guess with having to fly a brewer over to Germany to make a beer it would cost an extra plane ticket. But what exactly does this mean? Are they going to use gold in the brewing process or toss in sacks of truffles? It just seems needless to say that it's going to cost a lot of money to brew a beer.

I'm sure they're trying any subtle and not-so-subtle way to justify this clusterfuck of a crowdsourcing campaign. "Hey guys, I know you think you're paying to much and wasting your money, but don't worry!!! The beer we brew will be expensive for us so it's totally justifiable!!"

Maybe it would help if they dump the first batch of each of these beers. That wod drive up costs.

I'm still waiting for them to offer Jeroboams.

This is probably petty on my part, but I'm never buying another Stone beer, regardless of how barrel-aged it is. Unless it's a jeroboam.
The only time in the past few years that I've had a Stone beer is when my in-laws buy it (usually just IPA). They're good beers, but not worth my money.

HAHAHAHA. Well, it should have gone without saying when the indiegogo page itself had options to buy cases of this stuff. Even distributor packages.

And yet people still believe these beers are remotely rare what-so-ever.

It's not petty. Vote with your dollar. That's why I responded to Firestone's multiple middle fingers by giving them up entirely.

Uh, it said "Pretty darn rare." That sounds legit to me!

They screwed up the label too, the text on the back says "the earliest we recommend sampling this beer is 10.31.14." That's what you get when you have to include an instruction manual with a beer, for chrissake.
I think Stone is trying to see the earliest would be 10.31.14 as it should be carbed by then but are recommending to let it age a year after that to get some Brett complexity.

Stone must think they are edgy groundbreakers with this. Too bad Deschutes has been putting "best after..." dates on their barrel-aged and wild beers for years now, and they don't feel the need to include a bunch of pretentious cellaring instructions on the back.
Yeah but does Deschutes have a brewery in Berlin? Nothing but a bunch of homies over there.
