Stone just had to lay off about 5% of its workforce. They are among the segment's largest employers with more than 1,100 employees.
The company's leadership has attributed the cuts to, among other things, a "recent decline in domestic growth for the category and for Stone." The company says the layoffs will help them stay competitive and profitable.
"Due to an unforeseen slowdown in our consistent growth and changes in the craft beer landscape, we have had to make the difficult decision to restructure our staff," wrote Dominic. "Unfortunately, this comes despite a year that includes the incredible accomplishments of opening two new breweries, which are ultimately expanding the availability of Stone beers and boosting the reputation of American craft beer in Europe.

Yeah I do from time to time. IRS/w00t I buy least 1 a yr. They occasionally have interesting one off beers as well.People still buy Stone beer? whatyearisit.jpg
For me, Stone jumped the shark when they announced the crowdfunding for the Berlin project.
I can count on one hand how Stone beers I've purchased since then.
Bummer people have lost jobs though.
They did crowdfunding for that? What the hell. Except for now, i wouldn't see Stone so strapped for cash that they would rely on ******* kickstarter or gofundme to help build a new brewery.
why are people so angry about Stone now?
Because they took a bunch of peoples' money and then laid off 5% of their company.why are people so angry about Stone now?

And of course ******* Brewdog is taking over the facility. Like Mikkeller, they seem to have endless capital for their mediocre products. It's baffling.
Sure, but Mikkeller is a bigger presence in my life, so it's mediocrity is more annoying.Mikkeller >>>>>>>> Brewdog
