Star Sans Volume

I just read the directions on williams brewing on their star sans and it says to use 1oz per 5 gallons. I've been using 1/4 oz per 1 1/4 gallon and just splash it around the fermentor and spray it on equipment using a spray bottle. I've yet to have an infection in my beer in 30+ beers. Anyone have any reason to use the recommended measured amounts vs what I do?

You are doing precisely what they say to do. 4*(1/4) = 1 oz 4*(1.25) = 5 gal. It's a surface contact sanitizer, so if you have all the surfaces covered, it doesn't matter what's in between. You are good.
