We're now on day 11 of (according to the recipe) a 10-day fermentation. Bubbles are popping in the airlock every 6-8 seconds, compared to the last few days where it was consistently every 3 seconds. Haven't taken an FG reading yet...just judging that I've only done PA's and have no idea whether this bad boy is ready to settle/bottle yet, what do you lot think?

The question isn't valid until ye old hydrometer has been used.
Also a search would have been helpful. This has been discussed no less than 400 times.:mug:

I think it is time to start using a hydrometer! Seriously, it will help you rest at ease and improve your record keeping.

. . . what do you lot think?
I think you should leave it alone. If you're going straight to bottle from the carboy (no secondary), you want to give the yeast time to clean up and settle. Also look for some bulk conditioning to take place. Wait another 10 days before taking a gravity reading. Taking one now is pointless. You say this is an IPA so I'm assuming a high OG. These beers take time. Patience!

The recipe isn't calling for a 10 day ferment, it is likely estimating one. If you are in primary and you have that kind of airlock activity, you aren't done.

I've had IIPAs in secondary that had airlock in secondary while dryhopping for 10 days, but that is something different.

The length of fermentation isn't part of the recipe. There are far too many factors in play to make even a rough estimate of how long the fermentation will take in one person's system compared to another. The fermentation is done when it's done.
