Hey, everybody. A question for experienced brewers:

I threw in some Wyeast liquid yeast last night, but, when I did, I realized that I didn't properly smack or burst the activator earlier. I threw in the yeast and then in a panic I burst the activator pack and threw that liquid in, too.

It's been 24 hours and no activity yet, despite aerating twice.

Should I throw in something new and different (since the brew store no longer has that particular strain) now? Or, should I just be patient and wait a few days?

Thanks!

+1 on waiting. I did the same thing once and it turned out fine. In fact the small nutrient packet inside rarely breaks for me and sometimes I get very little if any swelling. Usually I make a starter but the one time I didn't it still worked out.

First smack pack I ever used I thought I burst the packet but didn't. So I did what you did and just add the activator as well. I had a nice glass of that beer last night. Just wait it out, it'll start working.

Yep. I'm glad I waited. Well over an inch of kraeusen formed this morning and the airlock bell looks like an upside down jack hammer right now! :)
