Smack pack busted

I had a smack pack bust on me the other day. I took it out of the fridge and smacked it and it started leaking out of the top, has anyone ever had that happen to them before? I sprayed a little vodka on the pinhole and put scotch tape on it? It swelled and everything went well. I smacked it two or three times, I am always paranoid that I wont bust the pack inside? Anyone ever have one bust? Is there a better idea than scotch tape and vodka?

Once or twice, but it never hurt the batch. I just set the pouch in a bowl.

That happened to me a couple batches ago on my Porter. I just put scotch tape on it like you did. It swelled up like normal and now I am drinking a delicious Porter from that batch. No worries.
