I've made slants. I re-pitch top crops. I like reusing yeast where possible. I just bought a PurePitch and after pitching I half filled the 'empty' pack with unfermented wort from the batch, squeezing the air out a little, sprayed with starsan and then screwed the top on and shook it up, allowing the pack to swell as it fermented and then put it in the fridge ready for creating a starter at a later date.

Anyone else doing something similar? They seem like an ideal container for this.

I have been shaking the purepitch gently then spray thoroughly with alcohol and remove 1ml which I then build for my brew.
Careful squeeze of the air out of the purepitch, respraying and sanitising. Also save some yeast from the starter build in sterile pots as a further backup.

I like this. What size starter do you initially use with the 1ml? I assume you ramp it up in stages?

I have 60ml sterile pots that i get from work and these fit the stir bar and I put about 30ml of wort in.
Then step up next to 250 ml and final to around 2 litres.
