What's inside that Wyeast smack pack?

I used Wyeast smack pack with the nutrient inner pouch today, gave it a whack, and could hear a distinct gurgle inside. Great! But the pack only swelled up a little during a 5-hr incubation period. I continued with the starter process and when it came time to pitch it I sliced open the pack and noticed two small pouches. One was broken, and the other was intact with the amber-colored nutrient inside. So I just cut the second pouch open and pitched it with the rest. Two nutrient pouches? Is that right?

I've never gotten a Wyeast pack with two pouches in over 20 years of brewing so I'm betting it was a production error.

I’d assume there were just two by mistake. Their nutrient pack is just some starter wort and small amount of zinc if I recall correctly

I've smacked a lot of wyeast yeast packs and never noticed more than one nutrient packet in there.

Any time I've not had full expansion of a smackpack, I've had problems with the beer.
