Sink Tube Draft Tower

So I scored a 4912 off Craigslist last night and I'm starting to think about piecing my kegerator part list. I know I want to go perlicks off the back. I'm thinking I want something besides a tower with two taps. I really like this tower:

how ever the price is a bit steep. :cross:

I was thinking about DIYing something similar using sink tube as a base:

using some kind of flange to connect it to the top of the sanyo. I think 2 single towers would look quite slick. Does anyone see have road bumps? Will the sink tube be sturdy enough?

That MicroMatic tower is nice & even glycol cooled.

The sink tubes should be plenty strong & you should be able to find some kind of screw on flange & a decorative cover at a hardware store. The big challenge will be cooling the towers cheaply. Maybe put a couple "Y's" at the top of the towers & connect them to circulate cold air up one & back down the other.

I was thinking about just running copper inside the sink tubes like this post.

That's a good idea. What all these damn homebrewers gonna think of next.

Might be hard to get the copper around the 90* bend inside 1-1/2" tube & still have room for insulation. It will cost a little more but google mandrel bends & intercooler piping. Larger sizes & polished aluminum tube.

I might just not worry about the curved portion and just use foam insulation.

PVC works great for towers. It's cheap and easy to work with.

thats kirk, but the whole point of the sink tubes is I'm looking for a different look. I want two single towers.
