I like it. I really thought about going to a 29er when I started riding again but I just do not hit anything gnarly enough to justify it.

If you like what you ride, stick with that. Bike prices have gotten pretty ridiculous. That being said, a 29er smooths out the ride nicely, without having to get a full suspension bike. The one draw back, in my opinion, is that many have a long wheelbase, making them feel sluggish in the turns.

I don't have any pictures on this computer,
but my main ride is a Lemond Toumelet. Nice bit, pretty light, Shimano 105 gruppo... very happy with it. #2 Road is an old Cannondale Sport-tour. This is the only road bike I;ve ever seen with grip shifts, these at the end of the bars. My oldest beater bike is an ancient Fuji. Roughly from 1980 or so, 12 speed, steel frame... that thing just fits me right.
My mountain bike is a Specialized HardRock. Full solid. I need to get me a new mountain bike one of these years.

I'm thinking of getting a nicer bicycle. There's nothing wrong with my Schwinn single speed, I just want something nicer, and not as brutal to go up hill or across non paved terrain. It doesn't have to be a super serious mountain bike or Tour de France rig.

What's up with Shimano hardware? My wife and I had two different bikes with Shimano hardware. They were both junk. The Shimano shifters were junk. They skipped, didn't shift smoothly and made a lot of noise. We couldn't even get the bikes to pedal in each gear. Total crap. We tried tuning them up by the directions and by watching how to videos on You Tube.

I see some of these supposedly nicer bikes, and they have Shimano hardware. Some of it looks identical to what we had. Im hesitant to buy something supposedly nice when it has the same parts that were troublesome on two different makes of bicycle.

You have a Moonlander?! That's awesome. I rode one last summer, now I really want a fatbike. My buddy has a Pugsly Po.I'd like to see a picture of the Masi. Is it decked out in Campy Record?

I had a Pugsley, but it died from a seat stay crack and I upgraded to a Moonie - the bike is a blast and it is getting ready for its annual test at the Arrowhead 135. Fatbikes rock!

The Masi was all Campy Super Record at one time, but now it is in its second life as a fixed gear.

Here's mine. It's a Madone 5.5 with all SRAM Force and I put Neuvation wheels on it.

For some reason, a local shop was selling these for an absolute steal a couple years ago. By coincidence, someone stole my Trek 1000 right before these went on sale, so win-win.

Shimano makes different levels of quality. I have a cylco cross bike with shimano hardware and it shifts great everytime. This bike is perfect for the riding you describe and is the type of riding I do.

Own an ibis tranny, alliance townie-cross-thing and Curt Goodrich rando myself. Still need to build up the Goodrich, lacking cash for a wheelset.

This is my beast: a 1996 Cannondale M200 SE.

It sucks that it weighs more than 25lbs and isn't geared for long hills.

On the plus side, it's virtually indestructible because it was built for trail riding.

I'm impatiently waiting for March, when I can get out and ride it again.

This is my old Junior High / High School bike: 1987 Bianchi Campione Del Mondo. My parents found it in storage. I'm hoping to get it dusted off and tuned-up for riding this summer.

My Nishiki montour I purchased 2 years ago. I have since changed out the seat, got pedals that are both clipped and standard and installed a kick stand (blasphemy right?) I never understood tossing err..placing a bike on the ground.
Its mainly used on the trail system the county has been putting in along our rivers. Because its the first bike I have not gotten from a big box store (although it be Dick's) it is the first one that was sized for me and the difference is amazing.

Carl does great work. I was in a bind and needed a new frameset pronto and Carl delivered a great one. I actually crashed it on a rainy 600K and bent the rear triangle. Back to Carl for a quick fix and it is back in my garage as my secondary brevet bike.
