Stopped at Cloudburst yesterday, thinking we'd have a pint or two before leaving town. Ended up drinking almost everything on the menu. A dude from Beecher's cheese gave us a big ol' container of cheese curds, which were awesome. The beers were all solid. I'd probably have to give Cloudbust the award for brewery with the best sense of humor. The beer descriptions and signage in the brewery were hilarious, and I'm pretty sure they're the first brewery I've been to with a glory hole.

The tap handle for one of their wet hop beers was a dildo. They make some pretty cool shirts, too.

Apparently Seattle is over hemp milk, which really put a cramp in her latte game. Oat milk is the new cool alternative milk, it seems.

This is true. You can still find hemp milk around but oat milk is absolutely the latest craze in dairy-free coffee drinks. I mean, look at this hip packaging, how could a coffee shop resist?

Populuxe and Lucky Envelope are just around the corner from Reuben's, too.

I think the guy at Obec mentioned that. We probably would have died if we hit those spots too.

I've never seen anyone riding one of the OFO (Yellow) bikes, but they always get dropped off in massive numbers in my neighborhood.

Besides just laying around on every sidewalk, there were some in such weird places. We went to Gasworks Park Saturday morning, and there were a couple laying in random spots there. It's just like someone was like, "Ok I'm done with this bike now. I'm walking from here."

Had a great birthday weekend in Seattle. Hit Holy Mountain Friday afternoon & tried pretty much everything on the menu. Coffee Vanilla Midnight Still was probably the highlight for me. Thanks to beerscenes for saving us a seat! Also hit The Masonry & Fremont Friday night. I really dig the vibe at Fremont. Also, noticed throughout the trip that dog rules seem to be much more liberal in Seattle than in Portland. Pretty sure there was at least one dog at every place we went on Friday & Saturday.

Hit Reuben's, Stoup, Obec, and Standard on Saturday. Stoup's IPAs were a highlight for me, though Secret Crush and Triumverate at Reuben's were on point as well. Obec is putting out some good beers too for such a new place. It's crazy how close Reuben's, Obec, and Stoup are. Had dinner at Giddy Up Burger before Standard. Standard was fine, but unremarkable.

Parked at 2nd and Blanchard, so ended up hitting Shorty's for a Ranier & to watch the end of the AFC championship game. What a great, classic dive.

We were also very amused by all the yellow, green, and orange bike share bikes strewn haphazardly all over the city. What a weird concept.

Anyway, great weekend. Waaaay too much beer. It'll definitely be less than 6 years before I go back again.

So now the city has opened it up to independent companies and they're all going with the "pick up and and drop off anywhere" model. I've used Lime Bike before and I think it's great, but I'm not so sure we need them and Ofo and Spin.

I thought that I had seen that tap handle at Pine Box, but maybe it was Toronado.

I’ve been down at HM since half four... mellow vibe, been all over the ‘Misére’. Gray Tower still pouring (not as good as in bottle for my taste). The BA King’s Head is a cut above last year’s too.

Cloudburst uses long umbrella handles for their taphandles. Toronado has a “wave” backsplash made out of sheet metal.

Matt complained the handles didn’t fit when he put on his first Cloudburst keg/handle. Steve sent his next keg with a flesh colored dildo taphandle complete with cloudburst color rings around the base.

The rest is history. It’s just a beautiful story.

I'm gonna be up in Seattle next weekend and I've heard a lot of good things about the Masonry, and that there's a new one. Does it matter which one I go to? I've been to Brouwer's, Pine Box, Stumbling Monk, Fremont, Holy Mountain, and a couple other random bars. I'm definitely going back to HM and probably Fremont. Anything I'm forgetting that I shouldn't miss?

Masonry Fremont is much larger and has more beer available. It's on the same street as Fremont Brewing.

I'd also hit up Seapine, Urban Family, Cloudburst and Reubens. And go eat at The Shambles.

Don't sleep on Seapine (south of the stadiums). They make fantastic beer.

The Shambles also has a killer taplist. Expect to wait a little bit, they've been open for a month now and are getting tons of press so it's been pretty busy. We went there last Friday night and loved it.

Farmhouse Fest this weekend was a great time. Worked well in the new Masonry space (although if it had properly rained it might have gotten tight inside), and got to drink a lot of good stuff. The Ale Apothecary blends and the Tired Hands Frequency Illusion were Personal highlights.

Holy Mountain and Cloudburst were okay.

Next time: Standard, Reubens and Lost Envelope.

My friend is getting married this summer and her venue said they will try and get whatever kegs she wants. She asked for a IPA and sour recomendation. I was thinking of recommending a pale ale and table beer (to keep things a bit more drinkable). Does anyone know what smaller breweries sell kegs? I assume something like Holy Mountain Vesper is not in play. We could probably something hoppy from Fremont? Maybe a lager from Chuckanut? Other recommendations of things that might be for sale to the public?

My friends in Seattle always get kegs for events from Beer Junction. Very easy process from what I've been told.
