Mrs. Stout and I are planning to spend a week in parts of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. We won't be in any one area very long, as time is limited.
Flying in to Portland and renting a car. Will be staying in Saint John, Halifax (northern burbs), along the NW coast of Cape Breton Island (Inverness/Cheticamp area), a night in Fredericton, NB, then heading back to Portland for a night before our flight home.
I'd like to hear some ideas for breweries, particularly ones with decent food. Also, good seafood restaurants, as I know there are tons of them. Especially lobster rolls and scallops.
Just saw this so may be OBE but.
If you cross the border in Calais, ME / St. Stephen, NB in Pennfield, NB before St. John is a nice restaurant. We like it for the whole belly fried clams and fried scallops.

I have had their beer and it is good. It is owned by good friends of one of my daughters and son in-law. They also do food.
If you like hard cider check out No Boats On Sunday. It will be in the NSLC stores (Nova Scotia Liquor Commission). All booze is through them. They also have affiliate stores all around. Same prices.
On the Island, truly the Best of the province!…
In Sydney there is Breton Brewing.

One end of the Cabot Trail starts just up the road.

BTW You mentioned Cheticamp which is about the other end of the trail. If you have the time the Cabot Trail is a spectacular drive through the Cape Berton Highlands National Park.

A number of nice restaurants at the ends of the park.
If you want a great dinner experience check out the Woodroad Restaurant.
It is located near Margaree Harbour, which is south west of a bit from Cheticamp.
My wife and I ate there a couple weeks ago. A gift from our kids for my birthday.
Small group, 27 folks, dining with a set 7 course meal the chef selects based on local food availability.

And the annual Celtic Colours music festival will be going 11 through 19 October.
Lots of music and venues. The most popular will be sold out but there will still be good ones.

The province sets minimum gas prices each week. Adjusts on Thursday nights unless they feel there is a need for an emergency adjustment. A week ago a litre of unleaded regular was $1.64.
Ok by now you are probably running for the hills. Lol
Again sorry if this is too late for you.
