i found a recipe for a cane and abel clone that calls for a half pound of rye crystal. it is not in beer smith and i dont see it in northern brewer. is their another name for this stuff?

Don't think so. It's a rye malt that undergoes the same process as crystal (barley) malt. Midwest and Rebelbrewer seem to carry it. Simpson's seems to be the only maltster I can find that regularly makes it, but I can't say I did a thorough search. Maybe your LHBS carries it, if you have one?

if it is not darker than 200L you could try doing it yourself.

I have had some great results home roasting small amounts, though I have yet to try rye.

thanks for the help. i will check my lhbs and see what they have. the recipe did not give the lovibond .guess i will have to wing it.
