I can't believe I'm writing this.
I pitched a Wyeast 1272 smack pack into a 1 liter starter earlier tonight, and after an hour or so I chanced to look in the open yeast pouch and noticed that there was a little moistness in there. The dregs of the yeast, basically. I started berating myself, upset that I had missed the opportunity to pitch *every cell* into my starter and have a perfect fermentation.
