They ****** up a canning run of it two years ago, low carb and flat. Then last year they changed something about the recipe, for which I am struggling to find what. These last two years I have not found abrasive impressive.

But that is just like my opinion...

Same. It used to be a fave and I'd order a case of it periodically. Last few times I've had it (and Todd the Axeman, which also used to be pretty spectacular), I haven't been impressed.

it's missing the Axeman, hisself

surely he took some of his brewing magic with him

Abrasive is either trash now or I ****** up my palate by drinking too much Brewing Projekt and Drekker haze. Probably a bit of both.

I used to really enjoy the first batch of Wisconsin Cranbic but then it got oxidized. VSB was good too, but their regular lineup of fruited stuff is awful
I don't think they taste bad but I've never understood the appeal. They released Strawberry Rhubarb after a couple year hiatus and people went apeshit over it, stuffing cases into their trunk. I also never understood the hype over Blushing Monk.

I've heard if you leave Blushing Monk in a 200-degree trunk for five years it becomes magical.

Furious never was any good, btw. Just a malty beer that would be considered a red out in the PNW.
I pretty much agree. I always got some weird off-flavors from fermentation on it, too.

Hell, Abrasive, Wet, Overrated, Axeman...those and the Darknesses were the ones worth talking about when they were at their best.

I had Wet twice and thought it was terrible both times. This isn't me just going all "PNW is the land of the fresh hop we're the best," Schells and Castle Danger can make a mean fresh hop, but Surly never could.

The Citra Wet was great. They had a habit of using bad Cascades, though.

Checking Untappd, I had Wet 2013 and 2015. I appear to have been underwhelmed both times but noted that 2015 was a bit better.

I don't want to brag or anything, but went to a trivia night at our local brewery. Solid beer nothing spectacular or anything. First time doing trivia night there.

Come in first. Got a $20 gift card. Felt pretty...... smart.

We've been to trivia at a local brewery probably 5 or 6 times in the last few months. Came in 2nd our first time, won the next 2 and it's been all downhill since.

They did a centennial run that sucked. Citra and simcoe were great. Last was mosaic and decent but not great.

Castle Danger Mosaic Fresh Hop is awesome.

What's funny is this is a great beer but only the 2nd-best coffee brown ale canned in that state. Bent Paddle Cold Press Black is ******* outstanding, one of my favorite coffee beers ever.
*pushes up glasses*

Uh excuse me sir, that is technically a black ale, as is denoted in the name...

Just saw this on GBH and I'm still astounded by it:
Matthew Modica: "I think it depends what circles you’re speaking to. If this was 10 years ago I’d say people were more interested in making sure to make a stop alongside their previously planned trips. I don’t know anyone in my field who has ever “needed” to see a brewery. For myself, even, when I’m in Belgium I didn’t really have a desire to see Cantillion. I did, twice, but I just didn’t care. Instead I took a bottle of Underberg on a photo tour of the brewery. If the desire is to see steel and people at work, or, in the case of Cantillion, spiderwebs of which you likely won’t understand, then you can see steel and people at work 5 miles from your house and hopefully support your local economy."

Literally what in the **** is this person trying to say? "I didn't have a desire to see Cantillon...I went twice but I didn't care." OK? This dude's been into beer for over 10 years and he doesn't understand the difference between Cantillon and your local brewpub? I understand not needing to go on the Cantillon tour more than once, dear lord man. The beers available to drink on premises are worth the stop in alone, especially if you're al-*******-ready in Belgium. The odd condescension in that paragraph makes me want to puke.

GBH can eat a bag of dicks. That article/blog post is worthless.
