I say this a lot, but new batch is out, this is the greatest beer brewed ever
Just, ****.
For realsies. I had a 2008 that was absolutely tip top. Did I say that right?

Are you talking about the Provisions version? i’ve found the others much less enjoyable.eh, didn't care for that one either. guess there are just some beers I will never like.
no idea, whatever that first version was in like 2009ish. had a few friends in the various clubs/societeys Bruery had back then and was able to try most everythingAre you talking about the Provisions version? i’ve found the others much less enjoyable.
The first batch of Tart Side of the Moon was solid. Maybe the name just took it from average to solid, but I'm sticking by this opinion from like 3 or 4 years ago. I don't know if they make it anymore. Brewery Vivant. My energy/interest in trying wonky styles of beer is pretty much nil now.sour stout - has there ever been a good one? every time I try one the acidity and the roast clashes like a bad car crash...
but breweries keep popping them out so they obviously sell
Glad I skipped out on that this year. Last year was pretty chill, not too bad of a crowd and no problems getting pours, plus the tap list was pretty sweet. They haven't been all that great at running events in the past. Online F5-fest ticket sales suck, but at least the ability to pick up reserved bottles at any point during the day kept the clusterfuck levels at a minimum.Man, Fonta Makes some really great wild ales, and awesome kombucha, but I had to get out of that anniversary "party" after the numbers on the wristbands stopped mattering (they even told everyone that right around 15 minutes after they started selling and a lot of folks made the trip early in the week to pick them up because of it), taking forever for them to sell bottles, and then having the wait for a draft be about 25-40 minutes. I'm sure it will be better when they open the new space, but that was not a good "party" whatsoever. I think I'll stick to going there when they are not busy. Honestly the only redeeming factor of my experience was drinking sur lie at the brewery and the scuppernong kombucha the nigh before. The banana stout was horrible. Not a horrible time as I got to see some good friends but they need to do something about them not being able to push product in a timely fashion at these kinds of things...and stick to your guns when you say you are selling crowlers of stouts. I have a feeling one or all of them are infected.

First batch of Tart of Darkness was incredible.
This, one million times over. 2013 Tart of darkness is uhhmmaaazing. Pure chocolate sour amazingness. Which also goes to say 2013 melange 1 is another beer I do enjoy. I do not think farmhouse noir is a stout but a darker end of the sour list. This was also very well done. Adjunct professor is fun as well, probably not a full bottle beer for most.
Many of the newer tart of darkness's have lost that deep chocolate roast malt build that 2013 has.
Nothing else sticks out in my mind as a sour stout that is a must try. Once I have almanac's truthful statement I will let you know on that beer.
Not a Stout necessarily but I put Crooked Staves Nightmare on Brett (Baltic Porter) in the same category. Ablosute tops in my book!Nothing else sticks out in my mind as a sour stout that is a must try. Once I have almanac's truthful statement I will let you know on that beer.

I loved Sour Black. I still have at least one bottle I believe. I don't even know how old it is at this point. 2011? I should open it soon.I liked Weyerbacher's Sour Black but agree in general that the stout flavor clash with the sour flavors.

Anytime New Glarus releases any new beer I freak that it isn't VSB 2.0New Glarus released a Sour Stout this summer as part of their R&D program. It was generally well received, despite all the neckbeards reeeeing themselves that NG didn't release VSB 2.0 instead.

Do we need to start arguing about how does a Sour Porter differ from a Sour Stout now just like people ask how a porter differs from a stout?
Garrett Oliver slagging off NE IPAs while in London yesterday. In classic ZFG style he's visiting Cloudwater today.

Per SnapFace, no more Moeder Lambic Fontainas & Brasserie de la Senne relationship.
RIP Taras Boulba on draft at ML. Compton25 BusinessSloth
They have some great IPAs available at the brewery.Garrett Oliver can't brew a good IPA to save his life.
I've heard this. Weird that none of their draft-only stuff that they send to bars in New York are good. They have some great IPAs available at the brewery.
If I'm out at other bars I usually don't bother with Brooklyn but the brewery-only stuff I tried was good. Was a nice time-killer while waiting for Luksus to open.I've heard this. Weird that none of their draft-only stuff that they send to bars in New York are good.
