The article says the beer won an award in 1995. And yet, in the video series that Goose Island released for Bourbon County last year, I believe they said that the first year they submitted BCBS to GABF, it was disqualified for being too far outside of style guidelines.

Is "they" Goose Island or Goose Island, subsidiary of AB InBev?

That sounds awful at first read, but their Mocha IPA wasn't bad, and I've had several coffee IPAs I've enjoyed. So it might actually be okay.

I still don't see why Stone is going so deep down the gimmick rabbit hole these days.

I, also, have enjoyed coffee IPAs from other breweries a lot, but man, just seems like they're desperate to gimmick up the Enjoy By line.

I remember when people used to go crazy looking for Stone Enjoy By, now it sits on shelves. It doesn't have the draw it used to. my beverage store had 4 cases of the last one go past it's date. They have to try something new, especially with the ticker mentality, must tick new beers, they are trying new things. I don't hate them for it, they are trying new things to regain market share

Yeah. I don't hate them for it either, I feel bad for them, really. I'm assuming they're still wildly profitable (though who knows), but every time I hear news about them now, it just seems like gimmicks (e.g. Arrogant Brewing).

They recently laid off 5% of their employees.
It is crucial to recognize that this decision was made after much careful consideration. Approximately 5% of all team members were affected, and they were offered a substantial notice period and career transition services. The team members no longer with our company are talented, committed individuals who have held important roles in our organization, and we expect that their talents will be in high demand. This reduction was not a reflection of the work they did, but a careful decision made to ensure that our company will remain competitive and profitable. No additional layoffs are expected within Stone’s foreseeable future.

Big Craft continuing to slug it out for market share in Europe. The latest development being a load of 2 week old Oskar Blues turning up in Tesco, the largest supermarket chain in the U.K.

Up until now Sierra Nevada (old as ****), Brooklyn (slightly fresher) and Lagunitas (sometimes between 1-2 months old) have been the only US imported craft brands in the big chains. Hopefully Grossman gets his act together because I would buy a fair bit of fresh SNPA.

This still tasted like a hideously over-sweet cara bomb though.

LOL @ "Strong Beer".

Tried a Berlin brewed Stone IPA yesterday. It was a malt bomb, nothing like the original. I´ll wait and see if Ruination lives up to it roots before deciding to give up on them altogether.

This move to Europe comes about 4 years too late in my opinion. I can see them packing up shop before long.

Same reason why Ballast Point has lately resorted to making nothing but **** like this:

The cans of Stone IPA I've had haven't been right either. Ruination, Cali-Belgique and Go To were all spot on though.
