Question on "Batch Size"

I create my wort using a 4 gal pot, adding half my LME at the beginning and the rest at flameout, and then top-off my fermentor to 5.5 gallons. That way when I transfer from my primary, leaving my yeast behind, I have a full five gallons of beer. So, am I brewing a 5 gallon batch or a 5.5 gallon batch?

It changes all the data in Beer Tools when I switch from 5 to 5.5 gallons, and seems to require more malt & hops to get the same output numbers.

that's a 5.5 gallon batch.

batch size is what goes into your fermenting vessel.
