1927 RECIPE Recipe stated that it was illegal to m,ake this recipe

Ingredients

1 3/4 Pounds sugar
1 Can Blue Ribbon hop flavored Malt Syryp
1 yeast cake or packet dry yeast

Procedure

Dissolve sugar and malt syrup in 6 quarts hot water. Pour 14 quarts cold water into a crock that has been scoured with Arn and Hammer Baking soda. Add hot solution of malt, sugar and water to crock. Dissolve a cake of compressed or dry yeast in a small quantity of luke warm water and add to crock. Cover with a clean cloth, ferment 4 or 5 days. Skim off the foam after the 1st or 2nd day. Place a scant 1/2 tsp sugar in 12 oz bottles. Siphon beer into bottles. Cap and allow to remain at 60 to 70 F for 7 to 10 days. Cool and enjoy.

That's probably a good idea. Then with the exception of a few crown caps, the cost would be the same.

I guess I could always designate this beer as OP beer. OP being "other people." A now deceased good friend of mine, who used to smoke store bought cigs in the navy during WWII, would keep OP cigs with him. When someone would want to bum a smoke from him, he would pull out a bag of Bugler (or whatever they had back then) and some rolling papers, and hand that to them.... LOL
