My local health food store sells bulk fructose at 89cents a pound which is MUCH cheaper than buying corn sugar from my LHBS I was wondering if this would work as a priming sugar for bottling my beer and if so how much should I use for a 5 gallon batch.

A pound is a buck fifty. That goes a long way when you use 4oz or so to carb a 5gallon batch. Why risk off flavors to save 90 cents? Use the tried and true corn sugar. I would think you have a chance for fruity flavors with fructose. I used cane sugar for my first batch. Will never go back. Green apple is not that good in beers, turns out.

corn sugar for $1.60
