Saw one of these on the road today... Didn't realize that there were already commercialized electric semi trailers available.

Some disturbing news (from Korea, via Germany) re EV battery fires.
ICE vehicles also burn up regularly. Last data reported in this thread showed ICE vehicles caught on fire something like 60 times more often than BEVs (adjusted for numbers in service.) Is there any data to show that EVs are getting more fire prone than !CE vehicles? Otherwise this article is just sensationalist click bait at best, and deliberate misinformation at worst.

It seems like EVERYTHING is misinformation these days.

I live on a cul-de-sac. This is my pic, just before my neighbor's house burned down. Yes, I called them and got them (and their dog) out of there before the inferno. ICE vehicle started it (bmw).

Yikes. My guess is it was some gadget or charger plugged into the car that caught fire. Or some road debris wedged underneath.

There was an incident recently here where a Tesla Model Y caught fire on the side of the interstate. Took 36,000 gals of water to put it out because it kept catching on fire again

My son just leased a Rivian.😬

Yes those ICE cars are quite dangerous and I'm glad I only have electric vehicles parked in my garage. Much much safer.

Or as usual, the Germans over-engineer everything to such perfection that a little mishap makes for a spectacular failure.

Whoopsie!

They had just had the engine replaced by BMW. So, likely something not quite right with that service.

Today, the feds released $521M for installation of EV charging stations across the US. This is part of a bigger $7.5B National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) plan approved in 2022 as part of the Infrastructure bill. Pepper EV charging stations across America, eliminate the range anxiety, encourage transition to electric. Makes sense.

However: we'll see if this money actually produces chargers somewhere or not. The Washington Post reported a few months ago that only seven (!!!) new charging stations had been installed in the two years since the money was approved.

Guess it depends on whether it cost a lot more than expected to install those seven stations or whether the money just hasn't been spent yet. I saw that article when it came out, but I suppose I'm going to have to read it again...

They should just hand the money to Elon if they want to get it done this century.

Well they're just handing the money to the states, which seems to be the way they do everything that has anything to do with transportation. I suppose the states can turn around and hand the money to Elon if they want to.

Returned the BlazerEV a while ago. It was a lot of fun to drive and I could tell it was probably 3x the price of my EUV, but I do feel like my Bolt is a little more... nimble? And I kinda appreciate that.

I also have a shiny new 240 outlet in my garage! No longer will I be trickle charging!

While I was getting my Bolt back I finally remembered to ask if dealership chargers are available to the public. In this case, they are! I had been wondering about this for a while, since PlugShare shows a lot of chargers at dealerships, but I never knew if they were available to just the mechanics testing the EVs on board charging equipment, or just the employees, or just to customers, or everyone. Apparently it's everyone. I guess I don't know if that's a dealership-by-dealership policy, but I won't feel foolish calling a dealership and asking before we start driving.

PlugShare has a notes section for each charger usually the details can be found there. Also read the check-ins and see if people on road trips are charging there.

The Blazer and Equinox are both good looking ev’s. At least the exterior is.

I was recently in a friends Toyota BZsomething something and I really liked the ride feel and the interior was modern without being space shuttle-y.
