Also, seems strange functionally to compare prices of our local beer to our favorite, most underpriced beer in other places. I don't live in Boston or Vermont, and don't particularly want to, so getting trillium, alchemist, hf, etc will always involve paying for shipping, gas money, a plane ticket, etc. and be significantly more expensive than basically any beer I could get locally.
When I was in Brussels, I bought 750s of cantillon geuze for $9, and 330s of rochefort 10 for $2.50. If they were that price here, I'd drink them very often. They're not, so I don't.

Never said that. I just said I don't care to spend that much money on it.

Yep, thought of that after I posted. I guess it just seems that the craft beer market currently dictates that even half-Trill quality beer is worth a premium price.

And I should qualify that by saying that not even all of the Trillium beers I've had have been worth the price tag. I'll pay whatever it costs for Upper Case. Congress St.? Not so much.

Had the Coccocino Porter from Hitchhiker yesterday. Very much enjoyed it. Tons of coffee and subtle coconut. Worth grabbing if you are in the SH area. Also, I like the fact that it is 7.5ABV. Perfect for the summer. Not too big.

It's been well established that I have no shame. Also, it took until the 4th time it tried to kill me before I realized that **** was 8.2%. I'm not a smart man.

well that's where we differ. i don't think think the VT stuff is underpriced, i think anything of lesser quality is overpriced. and we have high taxes on alcohol here. i'm just cheap and i complain a lot about it.

So if you sell out of said beer at the $18 a 4 pack mark in a half hour, why in the hell would you sell if for cheaper?
i agree 100%. it would be stupid not to right now. but let's look a treehouse as an example. they're about to have a ridiculously huge expansion, $20 mil or something crazy like that. when those beers lose the hype and the lines that they had, i bet you the price comes down once they start to have excess inventory sitting around, especially with the limited shelf life.

Trillium produces a lot of beer at a high price and doesn't seem to have that much trouble burning through inventory. Why would Tree House suddenly have a problem?

Probably won't have a problem for a while, but Trillium is in a much denser population, plus a ton of tourists. It's not hard to get there from Boston, but if you could pick some Trillium without getting in a car, why drive to TH?

idk but a lot of people seem to do it. Numb nuts drive there way out of there way sometimes for like 2 can pp limits. And the new Tree House spot is like 20 miles more in the direction of Boston than where they are right now. It's not going to be close to Boston, but closer for sure.

I'm not saying it's out of the realm of possibility, but I don't see it happening.

maybe i'm not familiar with how big trillium is (i haven't personally been to either). i just don't see the $20 four pack sticking around forever. aren't things supposed to come down in price when you make more of them?

I think you just really want it to happen. And I get that, as I agree with $22.50 for a four pack of hops is kind of ridiculous, but I don't think it's going anywhere. A premium product generally costs a premium price. Alchemist is becoming much more the exception than the norm.

I think $4 for a 16 oz can of tasty hops (see: not necessarily world class, just ******* good) is more than reasonable. But for some reason at just one dollar more per can (a mere 6 cents per ounce more), $5 seems ridiculous.

This guy likes Laphroaig too, preluderl - can't we just defer to his scientific opinion of Gocean w/o wrecking additional palates?

You're probably getting off easy. If I had to go out 28 to go home today I'd stop, but I have to go pick up the lil' man which requires a different route to be taken.

How would "hype" go away? People aren't going to just stop drinking IPAs. If they haven't lost the hype by now, they never will. People believe they are the best so that's what they will seek out. Just because they can make it for cheaper because of economies of scale, there's no reason to lower the price unless someone else starts making a similar substitute at a cheaper price and more accessibility. This is just my opinion based on people perception of Tree House. IMO BG>>>>>>TreeHouse.
