Milkshake IPA is like that gimmick that all the jocks in high school were "into" & then when you saved up all you money & bought that Starter Jacket Milkshake IPA Calgary Flames ******* lit ass jacket they were all "stupid nerd, milkshake starter jackets were last season" and you're left standing there with a triple fluff down winter ass jacket in July with your mom giving you that told you so look.

That Lavery/Grist House/Erie sour lactose fruited IPA was ******* insanely good tho.

Speaking from experience? :D

I had an Orlando Magic Starter jacket and I don't even like basketball. Those Shaq and Penny days were fierce though.
Real talk, that logo was garbage but everyone loved it.

100%. They had swag for a minute though. Those Penny Hardaway Nikes were $160 all the way back when I was in like 7th grade and that blew me away.
This, milkshake ipa, kale chips & the inexplicable plot of Father's Day (1997). Nobody has ever traveled to see Sugar Ray and let this be a lesson to younger generations.

So does liking a milkshake IPA make me a *********?
yes
So if someone enjoys a milkshake IPA or a sour IPA or whatever, what's wrong with that?
nothing, just makes you a *********
Extra Vanilla Shake from Tired Hands. Why?
Cause you're a *********, obviously.

Yo, ********* - I've got a whole box of milkshakes comin at ya...not milkshake IPAs, just old school milkshakes...some strawberry, some ******* chocolate...I'll send plenty of straws for your "share"...enjoy

You just GET me, ya know?

That Straainge Roots Cake Beer. Was told it wasn't a sour. It was.

That strawberry saison they do is actually pretty tasty, as hard as that is to believe. I'm gonna stay pretty far away from anything that they do that has anything to do with cake though.

What the **** is a pastry sour?

It's all just opinion obviously, but why cant people just like what they like without being wrong in some sort of way? The idea that beer is supposed to be some sort of specific set of things is kinda anti the spirit of craft beer in the first place. So if someone enjoys a milkshake IPA or a sour IPA or whatever, what's wrong with that?
Well obviously I feel my taste buds are superior to most of you plebs out there so my opinion is more right than most...

Seriously though, we all clown on DL/strange roots for their gimmicky stuff. I just see the milkshake beers in the same light. Maybe DL was ahead of their time and they'll be some sort of carft beer overlord in the next few years.

I can see that I suppose, but many reputable breweries are experimenting with lactose in IPAs. I don't know of a single reputable brewery who's making sour ice cream ganache beer like those dingbats.

I guess some of my ire comes from the lactose. It's a gross beer ingredient and I hope it goes away.

Meh I think if people like it, it's cool & good. But at least we're actually talking about beer here, so that's something.

Has anyone tried that BA stout that Eleventh Hour released? I just happened to literally be walking by the day the bottles dropped. I grabbed one, but haven't opened it yet.

Weren't we all drinking lactose in milk stouts and oatmeal stouts? I personally like all beer styles, some more than others. I dont mind that IPAs are more than dank, resiny, hop bombs. Keeps things interesting, and I'm pretty sure it's gotten more people into craft beer. I will continue to try new beers, and types of beers breweries produce. If I like it, hopefully there will be more. If I don't, hopefully someone else does, and there continues to be people that want to get creative in the beer they make.

I'm lactose intolerant. For real it screws up my tummy somethin' fierce. I fear lactose IPAs.

A pint of Left Hand MS Nitro almost killed me back in 2014.

Called my sister from the toilet just to tell her i love her and that she was the best sister anyone ever had.

Started to get my affairs in order.

Wrote out my will on a piece of tp.

Rough night.

I don't mind if it's used in small amounts, but in a lot of the sweetened ipas I've had, all I can taste is lactose. There's gotta be a better way to backsweeten, maybe kill the yeast with campden or something like that and sweeten with something more pleasant like honey or sugar.

Heading to my nephew's 1st bday in Charlotte tomorrow and my other sis is driving down from Pitt. She just texted offering to bring stuff from BG. Never had em, anything on current list straight fire?

That's quite honestly the best draft list I've ever seen available at BG.

Personally, I would go with Akamai, Recertified, General Braddock's, and Lou in that order when it comes to the hops. Mexican Coffee is phenomenal, and the Oktoberfest beer was released for the first time on Wednesday, which I'm very looking forward to drinking within the next week or two when the temps cool down. If you like that style of beer, I couldn't imagine Okbtoberfest being anything but awesome, as these guys pretty much nail every style of beer they brew.
