I may have asked this before, but I just saw they have a pending license, does anyone know anything about Cobblehaus Brewing in Coraopolis?
Looks like they're members of the BA as well, but there's practically zero info about them on-line anywhere, from what I can tell. They have a FB page with next to zero info on it as well, except that it seems to be the project of a "Scott", & there's a number & address.

Going to tag jagoffbrewer , because, if they are active local homebrewers, he may know them.

Anybody know if any of the local breweries submitted beers to GABF this year?

Fat Heads.

Edit: Think it's cost-prohibitive for any but medium/larger breweries. And that the trend is away from medals, because, unless it increases your market share (and you can feasibly address demand with organic/sustainable growth) the ROI for such an endeavor is probably silly.

*disclaimer that I opine this with no personal knowledge of operating a commercial brewery*

**but--as a consumer, medals used to guide me, but no longer do**

Kind of. Went to the soft opening a few weeks ago. Only three taps, no kitchen, and many service hiccups. Figured I'll give them a little time to get their feet underneath them.

I'll give you a heads as to when I make it out there. Bernadette is friends with the head brewer's wife and has been really wanting to check the place out. I honestly don't have much expectations for them but we'll see. It seems like they have an Indiana Jones like-vibe with their website and brewery vibe.

Edit: They are going for "adventurous" and "not ordinary" beers.

Last night i drank rolling rock and watched Journey to the West. Really enjoyed it. Yunz ever scene it?

I haven't even heard of this movie but Kung Fu Hustle was one of the most absurd movies I saw (in a good way) back when it came out. What a fun flick.

Back to beer, i've been drinkin a lot of Rolling Rock cause i got free 30pack. If there's a better alcoholic palate cleanser out there i've never tried it. Doing a Monk's Blood vertical? Crack an ice cold rolling rock. Sampling all the hot new local IPAs? Dump two rollling rocks into a frosted mug. Building a birdhouse with your niece? Drink 10 rolling rocks first. It has absolutely nothing going on, which to me makes it ******* perfect.

Rolling Rock will always hold a special place in my heart, as it was the first beer I was successfully able to get "beer drunk" off of. Before then, I would try to take a swig of beer, and would want to throw up. Which was weird, considering cheap Vodka* was my drink of choice.

When I first got to college Rolling Rock was my go to. Not sure why, guess cuz it was local and not something that most people drank. Kicked it to the curb though when they left Latrobe. This was the first beer I remember the taste changing when it was brewed elsewhere. I have a ton of Rolling Rock stuff now because it was my go to. Glasses, hats, shirts, signs. Used to have a Rolling Rock neon I got when I worked at Starlake. Used to light up the inside of our house at school like a lighthouse. That green glow could be seen from a pretty good distance.

Seasonal creep for Oktoberfests is very much welcomed by me as opposed to pumpkin beers showing up in 90 degree heat.

Agreed. I would drink them all year if I could. I enjoyed the SN collab Oktoberfest last year. Really looking forward to this one.

Hacker Pschorr and Ayinger are my go to Oktoberfests.
