So I've got an IIPA with WL Vermont yeast going but activity dropped off really fast after 36 hrs of monster fermentation. I had foam coming out of the blowoff tube yesterday and today there was the barest of bubbling happening. I did a pretty good size starter but am wondering if my calculations were wrong and if i need to pitch more yeast. My LHBS doesn't carry the Vermont yeast so I'd have to either reorder or pitch with S5. The recipe said I could have used either, but I didn't know if it would screw it up to mix yeasts once its already going. Thoughts?

Just step away from the fermenter. The yeast is working and it will do what it has been doing for thousands of years, Let it finish and you will have beer.

It is very common for activity to be intense at first and then slow down. Bubbling means nothing. The yeast started and is still working.

Chill.

Here is this one done yet?

You're worried about your fermentation because you took a hydrometer reading and the gravity hadn't moved over the course of a few days right? Everything lies to you but the hydrometer :D

More yast at this point is just a waste of money.

It worked, the yeast and beer is fine. Check gravity in a week and then come back if you have a problem.
