Hey all!
I accidentally bought 6.6 lbs. of LME when the recipe (Holiday Cheer) called for 7lbs of DME.

Would I be ok just using the LME or should I go exchange it?

you can use the LME to make beer, but be aware that 1 pound of LME has some water weight in it, where 1 pound of DME does not.

6.6 pounds of LME is equivalent to only 5 pounds of DME

So, if you are trying to nail the gravity on that recipe, you really need more LME than you have.

7 pounds of DME in the original recipe can be done with 9 to 9.5 pounds of LME.

It will work fine but you will need more of it. 7 lb DME in five gallons will give you 1.062. You need 8.5 lbs of LME for that. All you really need is another two pounds of DME.

Thanks guys!
I think I'll go exchange the LME for DME. I don't want to mess with this one. Gotta be right for the Holidays! : )
