This is a John Bull London Porter Kit
Added 500g of spray malt and 500g of dextrose
First time making up a starter from a brewlab yeast slant Made up 900ml starter, starting fermentation was violent! Had blow off tube fitted also, now been in primary nine days is still activity in air lock so I know it's still fermenting , normally on the kits I've done they are usually done by now
And crausen ring just surround , this though is very foamy and what smells and looks like yeast slime on the top, do you think it's knackered should I give it a gentle stir? Is this usual after msking a starter?

That's yeast krausen. It's likely still fermenting after 9 days, albeit slower than when it started. Seal it back up & give it another week. Then do a hydrometer test if it's settling out clear.

That looks good to me. However, the time period does seem long. If the OG was over about 1.060 that would explain it.

Thats fine. Different yeast strains can have different fermentation properties. I've had a few fermentations leave krausen hanging around... particularly Wyeast Kolsch strain. I'd leave it alone for another 10 days.

9 days isn't too long for the average brew/brewer. Even my 1.04X beers take 3 weeks to finish & settle out clear.
