Oatmeal in a ale

How do you think that'd be. I made a Oatmeal stout with honey that tastes good but its still is in bottles for another 2 weeks. So it makes me think.

A Irish Red Ale kit, how do you guys think that would mesh with Oatmeal added to it? Maybe like 3 cups of it?

My understanding is that oatmeal adds body, but virtually no flavor. I think you'd get a slightly thicker, silky sort of Irish Red, which sounds like it might be a good thing.
