Damn sounds like you have it down, sry to hear about the back. Looks like you are playing well!

I need to play more, I am determining is a cause in my higher scores. Hope to play up in Breck this week.

Three generations going out for 9 this afternoon at the pitch & putt. Father in law, me, and my son...

The last [and only other] time I played with my FIL, he chunked a ball around 10 holes in and felt his arm feel wrong after digging the clubhead into the ground. He had to quit after the 12th from the arm pain, and he ended up with bruises from tennis elbow that made @passedpawn 's image from a couple pages back look like nothing... His entire forearm was basically black.

Hope today goes smoother for him lol...

Epic fail... Not his arm, mind you... That was fine.

But I get to the golf course, and realized I'd made the tee time for the wrong day, and the course was booked up for the next three hours. So we just hit balls at the range.

🤦‍♀️

Back finally feels better, so I went out today. I came pretty close on the same hole I aced last week. It was rolling right at it and I thought... why not?

Man, Phil's just the best. He's my generation and that means something to me. The generation older than I adored Arnie & Jack & Palmer. For me, I like Phil. There is another gen behind him (Jordan, Rickie, Dustin, Rory, etc). I love watching them too, but they are not Phil (yet).

Anyway, here's a little chipping tip from Phil where he makes it look oh so simple.

This really is what's been keeping me from playing lately. Seems like my back hurts for 3 or 4 days after playing. I haven't played in a couple weeks and my back feels pretty good overall. I'm not sure what to do, if I need to swing a lot easier or something needs to change in my swing.

US Open today, fellas. Looks like you can stream it online, like the Masters. I wish they'd do that for every tournament for those of us who don't have the golf channel.

Funny, golf does not affect my back at all. Dark clouds above, but I might try to get a late round in. Haven't played since Monday :)

I don't know why it hurts mine so much - the twisting and turning, the torque - probably.

Ordered new clubs yesterday. The Wishon EQ1-NX single length. 4 hybrid, then 5 iron through GW.

All at 37.5" length with the NS Modus3 120 shafts, and GP MCC+4 grip in midsize.

The fitter does fittings for single length with 5i, since that's the area where many players have trouble hitting because of the shorter length in the long irons. I've never hit so many flush 5 irons in my life. Seems playing them 2" shorter than my current 5i--at my current 9i length--helps find the center of the face lol...

Now I'm hoping I get good news about how quickly they can get the heads and get them built.

Just got off the course. 2nd round this week. Playing again Sunday haha.

Just got home to a homebrew Cigarbox IPA (simcoe hops, with staves of spanish cedar added to the fermentor). Nom nom if you like the wood-aged beers. Cigar City used to make a similar version of the Jai Lai, infused with spanish cedar spirals. Man I like that flavor.

I was playing alone, but some rando zipped up behind and joined me at the 7th hole, and we played together the rest. He was a very good golfer - hit +1 on the back 9, not sure about the front. But on the par-3 8 he got distracted by a passing dinosaur and missed the green. haha. In retrospect, I wonder if me and my phone were the issue...

Oh, that looks good. We just arrived in your neck of the woods yesterday to visit grandkids. Son-in-law is out of town with his Dad and twin bros. on a Father's Day golf weekend, but he left me a six pack of Jai Alai in the fridge. They all get back tomorrow, and then we're all headed to Hilton Head to join up with my son and family for a beach rental.

I squeezed 2 kegs and a Jockey cooler into the RV (an IPA and a Jai Alai clone) which hopefully will last for a few days at the beach house. Brought my Cigar City T-shirt and bar glasses as well, but sadly not my clubs. At least I've got the 19th hole covered.

They offer it as a seasonal between September and December now. Yours looks very tasty!

After having to withdraw from The Memorial with a 6-stroke lead after Saturday, I'm glad Rahm was able to win this one. I'm sure it was a better trade to have a major anyway ;-)
He seemed genuinely humbled at being the first Spaniard to win the U.S. Open, a feat that Seve had long sought but never achieved. A good tournament and a fine champion on one of the grandest "munies" in the world. O.K., Bethpage might be as nice, but you'd have to put up with New Yorkers.;)

What do you guys do for golf balls?

I gotta say I'm a Kirkland guy. TXG did a test against the ProV1 and found the Kirkland had more spin and was generally a great ball, all for just barely over $1 each...

I don't find myself rolling off the back of greens much... The ball hits and sticks.

They look OK to me. At least, they are fine for my level of play. I especially like the colorful ones :)

I don't mind a yellow or lime green ball. But if it's pink or red, I just can't. I'm red-green colorblind. I could lose one of those balls on the green and just not be able to see it.

Any time my buddy is playing a red ball, he knows I'm not going to be much help looking for it.

As for quality of ball, I'm of the opinion that spin matters, regardless of skill level. If I actually manage to hit the green, I want the ball to stay on it lol..

Just found this thread and never knew it existed.

I work at the number 1 platinum country club in the US. Congressional Country Club.

We can play for free on Mondays which I have done a lot in the past.
Unfortunately for me I have a torn tendon in my arm so haven't played in a long time.

I don't know enough about today's golf balls to have an opinion, but I just bought a sleeve of ProV1s at a flea market for $5, so I'll have to give them a try.

Passedpawn has no comment on Jon Rahm's victory.... Personally I think it's great. I was hoping Louis would pull through, but not to be. That last tee shot hosed him. Pretty exciting finish though with that leaderboard the way it was on the last day. It was anyone's tourney. Very cool.

Personally, I think ProV1's are great, but unless you're scratch or better golfer, I think you should save your cash and get something a little more affordable. Those suckers are crazy expensive. You're not going to notice a difference. You might think you do, but you won't. Not if you're not that great of a golfer. A lot of prima donnas out there... I was probably one at one time in my youth.
I'm not too picky, I like Srixon or Precept. Certainly not going to play cheap shag balls, top flite, etc. Not going to play orange or yellow balls, those, back in the day were ***** balls that only top flite or the cheaper ball companies put out. For me, there's a stigma around that. Just seems lame and cheap and hacker-esque.

I loved that he won, especially after getting ripped on Memorial Day (one day away from easily winning that one). Yes, Louis O is a class act too. I only watched the last few holes of the US Open. DeChambeau is a bit of a tool - used to root for him, but hard to watch him now.

My father-in-law gave me a dozen of those pro-v1s. I gave them to my boys, who I'm sure would have a better idea what to do with them. I am a hack :)
