Great positive story! Wasn't watching football back in those days so missed the whole NU story. I read fans truly appreciated him tho. Good enough for me.

Most of my interesting golf stories are related to 80yr old dudes who out drive me. I'll just keep those to myself. [emoji3]

I also love frisbee golf. Especially that a its exercise and b it's free. Played Sunday morning took about 1.5 hours to play.

The president of our brew club plays frisbee golf competitively in tournaments and does not play regular golf. He’s a big strong guy, about 6’5” and 220#.

@brandtrepair and I have a busy friday and saturday at the course. Friday is couples fun night, 9 holes, played with your spouse, includes a bunch of different games on each hole.

Saturday we play a 2 man, 8" cup, ryder cup tournament. 27 holes. Oofta

Sounds like fun. Love different games. You know what playing with wife is called? Divorce court. Haha, most couples I meet are happy. I have always wanted to try 8 in cup. I know I will still come up short, lol.

I enjoy golfing with my wife, but it certainly is a different mind set on pace of play. I'm a quick golfer, have played the course that we are members at since I was probably 8 years old, and weekly since high school. I know what club I'm playing from where, and it takes 0 time to get out and hit. Playing with the wives changes that pace of play in a MAJOR way, and if I'm not mentally prepared for that, I can turn into a bit of a dick :).

8" cup tournaments are a LOT of fun, and one would think you'd make every putt, but it doesn't happen. I think this is tournament 3 at our course with them this year, and we moved our 4 man to an 8" cup as well. Draws a much larger crowd to the tournament.

I wished my wife golfed, but then again that’s me time with the guys! She has her time as well.

I'm staying in a villa right on an awesome course in Bend OR, Tetherow Golf. This is a shot right off my balcony. It's a pretty fantastic links course. Sadly, because I've got kids and wife and related activities, I don't think I'm going to be playing it. Gah!

You know there's something called the 19th hole :) Usually have a nice deck to enjoy the view and a meal.

Edit: was looking at their website. Beautiful course and they have those cart boards. One thing I really like is 17 and under play free with a paying adult.

Yep had a few cold ones on the outside deck overlooking the course. Heading to local ski mountain now, lunch at the top.

Pretty course, but looks like one of those where even relatively good shots can land you in the poopy.

Brew on :mug:

Wha...no way I could take that punishment. I figure you know what you are talking about so I should give it a try. Kinda like holding a twinkie in my face :) I think they went out of business but I use this to travel. Seems people just throw their bag in a trash bag anymore. I wanted piece of mind but went a little overkill. Have used the big coffin case. They are very difficult to travel with due to size and weight. Used to travel everywhere and never take my clubs. Finally I started taking them. I usually play one round maybe 2 a trip. It is hard with the wife and kids. I try to play late in the day and play quickly. You guys have seen me play a few vacation rounds I think. I get good deals on golfnow or teeoff.

Thanks for the beautiful pic. Wow. I have heard of that course, I am almost sure. It's a top rated type course iirc. Pac dunes out there somewhere sounds sweet too. Way to be a good dad and guy. I could use some of that.

Doh, this pic goes with travel comment. But as a ps, I stayed next to Torrey pines and decided to play other beautiful courses for a third the price. I am so happy to play, that even though I love trophy courses I have never splashed out 300 to 500 to play one. Haha, I did do a ts speech to play the moon palace cancun.

It’s just almost to hot to play golf here in Texas, but a buddy in our golf game that’s in charge of all the bets wants to play a one man scramble next week! I told him he was crazy!

Good news: I got a new driver (for my birthday last week). Boys got me a phat Taylor Made. Haven't hit it yet, been raining a lot here, but I am guessing it'll get at least 10 yards deeper into the woods than the one I have now.

Bad news: wife bought me $200 worth of lessons a year ago on my birthday. They just expired. I'm an idiot, I needed those lessons. I'm gonna talk to the golf pro and see if he'll make an exception (one of these days...)

You don't need no stinking lessons.

Piano Man's Golf suggestions..
- Loose grip and waggle.
- Elongate your spine.
- Focus at the left side, forward side of ball.
- Feel the club head at transition to down swing.

-Loose grip/waggle keeps you well, loose.
-Enlongating spine helps keeps the body from "slumping" during the downswing. This helps eliminate "fat" shots.
-Focusing on the left of ball helps keep the head still during the swing. Imagine your head is in a vise even after you hit the ball.
- Feeling the club at the top helps keep your awareness of the entire swing.

You can Paypal me $250 anytime. [emoji57]

That's super good stuff. Really, I can get behind all that. I would also like to add the following. Apologies as I assume everyone knows all this but if not here are some more good tips. Dont discount the mental game. Its key and critical to playing well.

Lose grip is a great idea, wrists as well. But how the club is gripped is paramount. Without making too fine a point it must be gripped strong. The triangle of left hand thumb and pointer must be from right nostril to right shoulder.

The spine and stance, key. Right foot exactly 90 degrees to target line/stance line and left foot slightly flared. Foot line, knees, hips and shoulders all dead parallel to target line. Those lines one side of train track and target line the other. Ben Hogan said in his book if someone is standing with feet out, he didn't know which side they were going to swing from.

Like the left side thinking. A similar thought kept me in the 70s for months about 3 years ago. Particularly the left wrist, it must be firm if not pronated. That single thought helped my brother in law begin to develop into a fine player. These simple thoughts are the fundamentals. Every shot, range and all. When pros say I'm working on the fundamentals this is what they are talking about. Last thought on stance, leadbetter, everyone, for stance grab a club and hold at neck and low back. Feel straight back. Bounce a little, slight knee bend. Forward tilt a little. Straight back, knee bend, little tilt. Basically getting in position to hit a ball.

these pics of perfect courses are priceless, thank you gents, I've been playing since I was 9 and not all courses are even close, I grew up playing bump and run golf with domed greens, very hard for most to shoot even par, I play at the Payne Stewart course in the town where he is from and it's not a great course but I like it for that reason, very challenging not from a design standard but from the harsh landscape of not being manicured regularly, I think these rough courses are needed for young players to overcome obsolesces and play good shots not out of the best circumstances

What the ... is a "one man scramble?"

I'm not sure what your laws are like in Florida, but here in California gift certificates like that are not allowed to expire. A lot of places out here put an expiration date on them, but it's against the law not to honor them. I'd check into it.

I have a friend that had a gift certificate for a round @ Tustin Ranch Golf Course that had expired, so I printed out a copy of the law for him to take along and they honored it without issue.
