Ehhhhh. Every weekend I put off home projects just to get outside. Weather was perfect over the long weekend. Someone asked me at work what I did and my reply was "aaah I think I played golf everyday.... And also bbq'd and drank" weekend felt like a good week. I need more of those.
You sir, are my Hero!

Awesome day! 14 holes in exactly two hours. No one on the course. All pars and 3 bogies before the storm clouds and winds came on. Must have been bad north of me. A wall of birds came flying in and deer bedding down. Chef turned around on the first hole and drove me in. By the time I got out of the locker room the down burst was done and sun and dry

The 13th there is a beautiful amphitheater. I was on the tips and it was 185 to center. Carried it pin high to trap on left. Chunked out of trap and fell into thickish rough, short sided. Chunked out, missed putt, double. Man golf is that tough. Different day similar shot is on green easy par.

They were having a jr tournament so I played 9 and they gave me a rain check to play 9 another day.

I played Fox Hollow (Trinity, FL) on saturday. What a great course. TONS OF WATER! Man, there was water everywhere, but I was playing well and didn't suffer much for it.

Got rained on for about 30 minutes - we were considering getting rain checks at the 8th hole but then it cleared up nicely. Check out the clouds that hammered us.

There were sandhill cranes everywhere. Gators as usually watching us from the many lakes.

My oldest boy eagled this hole. It's a par 5 that plays around the lake. He was on it in two, then long-putted it in.

The 18th is a shot across the water, then a thin fairway flanked by water again. It was a superb hole, one of the neatest I've played. That's my buddy driving. You can see the little wooden bridge that carries you across the water there, just past the tree.

^^^^^ Very nice.

I've suffered my first golf related injury. Costocondritis. It's a rib injury and I can't play golf for at least a month.

Have any other golfers had this condition and if so how well did you heal?

Man that looks pretty. Eagle, awesome! That course sounds pretty daunting with all that water. Cool you stayed out of it.

Memba that course up there I posted, arrowhead. Well that's why I just got home from a 12 hour drive from Vegas. It's a golf tournament for my bil. We usually take our time back but he thinks we have a chance this year. Hope I dont lay another egg, have the past few years.

Man bummer. What happened? I haven't had it but have had others. Was it repetitive?

I think it started when I hit a really fat shot from an uneven lie a few weeks ago. One of those shots that I should of pitched to a good lie and then taken the full shot instead of letting it rip with the ball above my feet and burying the club into the turf.

That's when it started, I compounded it by managing to hit several wet green side bunkers every round over the next few days. The cumulative effect of all these sudden stops has injured cartilage common to the ribs and sternum. Add to that the fact that I kept playing 3+ rounds a week and it just got worse.

All I can do now is putt and practice bump and runs.

Speaking of bump and runs, I bought a new club last week and used it Saturday. It's one of those putters with a 45 degree angle on the face. I used it at least 5 times and it worked very very well. Use a putting stroke and the ball leaps about 5-10 feet straight as an arrow. It's great for golfers that have a bad habit of just missing the green every time :) No more putting from the fringe, or shanking a soft wedge from there. I highly recommend. I chipped the ball within 5' from the hole every time with this.

I know you guys are probably expert short chippers, but I'm not. My oldest boy always uses his 8 iron, with the ball at his back foot, and gets the same effect.

Oh man. I would love that. What's a round in a place like that cost?
It fluctuates. We used to get really good deals at twilight then they went all inclusive, now back to rates. Going rate is 140 up until it looks like 2pm. 90 after that and then 59 for after 4pm. We used to get that for 39 or 49. Then they got bought out and was a solid 150 all inclusive all day. Never played during those years.

So thrilled that they are back to that twilight rate. Probably better rate out there. The denver city courses used to be 27, but I think they are 33 m-f walking. On golf now and teeoff killer deals to be had but they go quick. Two other nice courses here are the ridge at castle pines and bear dance. Arrowhead is king in my book. It's pretty difficult, kind of a tragic beauty. We scored a local city muni pass for 300 unlimited for 3 years. Srsly 3 years unlimited. This is our last summer. I dont want to go back to paying :)

I played a lot of golf with a friend who had one of those. From 50 60 yards in or so, he played it. Maybe even more. Sounds awesome, I need to try one. So just like that it worked for you? That's huge.

Yep. Just from the driving range. Hit a ton at the chipping green with that bump and run chipper. Man I'm not going back to an iron. I did not shank or duff one ball. They all went straight and nearly all were in 1-putt range.

My dad has one of those - vintage, too, with an actual wooden shaft. If I'm playing with him, I'll borrow it for those just-off-the-green shots. If not, I'll use my 4-iron, choked way up with a putter stroke.
His is not a 45-degree angle, more like 25 - 30 degrees or so. But just enough with a good hit to pop it up and on.

Fast day out there. We were done in 3:45. My game is dr jekyll / mr hyde. I had several pars and a birdie, and then a few snowmen. I'm pretty good from within 100, but my long irons are letting me down right now. I've got some lessons my wife bought me, need to use those.

This course, Westchase Golf Club. Tons of water. Picture below is the Hole 3. Lots of bridges on this course, and one long one through the woods had a nice babbling brook under it.

Flyover. If you have the patience to watch this, note how many tee shots have to carry 100+ yards of water (almost all of them!). Fortunately, I think I got over all of the safely.

Beautiful pp. Those carries are legit. Sounds like the game is doing well. How did the chipper work? I tip on big scores. When you hit a bad shot, try to enjoy the challenge of making par. A lot of times you can end up outscoring everyone on a hole. Sneaking out today, too!!

That little cheater chipper I bought is absolutely the best club in my bag right now. I'll bet I one-putted 16 of the holes on that round.

Played in an annual scramble with my dad and brothers. -14. Winning team was -18. I contributed a few shots but did not play particularly well. We made some clutch putts though. Looking forward to a couple of rounds in Myrtle Beach in a few weeks.
