With my sister and brother, and friends.

Dad is usually whiskey or wine.

Grandfather has been a fan of Westvleteren 12 for a few years now ( after I gave him a few).

That is fair. My family isnt the biggest fan of lambic but exposure therapy seems to be improving their views on it.

My mom’s usually a good sport about visiting places: she liked deschutes, Commons (to rise again!), and cascade and hated hair of the dog... so good taste too;)

My brother’s first bottle was Blauw, unfortunately he loved it.

I think parents just want to be supportive of their children's interests. My mom is not a fan of acidic beers but has come to many breweries and tried many of my bottles. She's more of a haze bro-ette it seems. I forgive her because she's family.

You did this

but also that's awesome you could share such a great bottle with family and have them enjoy it.

Chances are, if I get an old Viggy bottle I'll share it with Ryan. But if he gets an old bottle he'll drink it himself at home, alone, with just the baby and the dog to keep him company.

Don't let Ryan drink alone.

I got 2 different receipts from Cantillon, but only one transaction is showing on PayPal. Anyone else have something like this happen?

one receipt, but order history is showing 2 orders, only one of which accepted pmt. Should be good as well.

This happened to me as well. My order history on the site showed two orders, both with a status of “Payment Accepted”. Checked it just now and one says “Payment Error” so they must be cleaning things up.

Do those just hang out on the shelf in Australia?

They hit the shelves two Mondays ago and I am pretty sure he would have picked up the last of them. So took a week for the stock to move. Most of the shops have their stock gone before they hit the shelves but lately there have been new venues getting stock and people only find out about them a little later on (normally by accident - I picked up a Kriek about three months after the release earlier in the year).

3 Fonteinen turds over here. Good for me!

I didn't really love the first two Fous I tried — '15 with 1 year and '16 with half a year. Tasted like slightly tame gueuze with a hint of apricot, maybe. Felt like I wasted $45 each time. But weeks-old '17 was a revelation. Peaches for days. Beats me why anyone ages this stuff.

Then again, I am a lambic rube, so...

My general rule of thumb for fruited lambic is under 4 months or over 1.5 years.

Is this a common occurrence, or just once in a blue moon? I'll be in Sydney in a few weeks and wondering what the liklihood is of chancing upon some.

As of a year ago, 3F can be found in Sacramento relatively easily on the shelf.

Welcome to this year!

Damn! I used to be able to pick up 3F gueuze 750’s and Golden Blend 375ml’s (when available) from Whole Foods for $21 each on a regular basis. They would sit on the shelves for weeks/months at a time. No longer the case.

The only time they turd it up on the shelves here in SF these days are when they’re priced ridiculously high.
