First time opening up a bottle of the new 2016 Golden Blend. (Not pictured is the cork smear on the ceiling).
Popped the cage and let it sit for about 5 minutes before it un-corked itself. Lucky not to lose any of the beer itself! I've had some 3F beers where I thought the carb got in the way/tasted a bit overcarbed, but this is not one. Opens up wonderfully, that funk/minerality that makes 3F what it is. Comparisons to the '14 and '11 seem unfair given its youth, but I'm really glad to try another batch. One more in the cellar that I plan to hang on to.

I'm genuinely curious, why would you ever do this? Best-case scenario you open it exactly as you would had you loosened the cage and slowly removed the cage without removing your hand from the top of the cork, worst-case scenario the cork pops out and dents your cieling and/or you lose beer.

Set it down to get some snacks and such.
