I've honestly never even heard of the "World Beer Awards".

Beer awards/competitions generally remind me of for-profit academic journals, where basically anyone can create something with an authoritative-sounding name even if there's no actual expertise, pedigree, or standards behind it.

man, I'm so happy to learn today that according to the WBA, the best gueuze award in 2017 goes to a "lambic" produced here in Canada, 1km away from my place. I can mule for everybody as soon as the 2017 hits the shelves in a few weeks.

This proves how ******* ridiculous the WBA are.

And the best gueuze is also from Quebec!

Dibs on both of them, plus this too: Altbier Les Trois Mousquetaires Sticke Alt

There are a lot of these unknown competitions that are just pay to play operations. They solicit breweries for entry fees and then magically everybody wins. Not sure this is one of them but I wouldn't be surprised either.

Yeah, pretty much every ****** nano-midsize brewery has a World Beer Award for wheat or red or some other ********.

Yeah, they're basically the National Student Honor Roll of beer.

Yup.

Tastes like Gueuze with 70% 3F lambic in it.

Popped a Golden Blend 11' the other night after other's had said the beer seemed to be going still. This is the 3rd bottle from the lot that I've had, and this one had a nice pop of the cork, and a steady stream of bubbles from the bottom of the glass. The beer has changed considerably since I had it last 2 years ago...less bright, and a bit more acidic with moderate funk. It's definitely not at the point where I feel the need to crack another soon. It's either in transition to something entirely different, or it's best time has come and gone. Cheers

For those looking, the webshops put up more A&G and loons. The past few weeks have seen lots of activity so if you are into the webshop stuff, I'd suggest keeping an eye out. I've heard more homage will be released, but who knows.
