Can anyone provide some insight on this cork? Got a bottle of Armand & Gaston in today. The cork seems to be slightly dislodged. I'm only concerned because of reports I've heard of bottles damn near exploding. Should I be worried? Drank a bottle last night, so planned to sit on this one for a little while, but I don't want it to explode. For what it's worth, the cage appears to be fully intact. Mostly I'm just anxious and would like my nerves calmed. Thanks ;)

I'm surprised by how many of you who sound like you don't know how to open a beer.

I'm not sure if you've had a&g, but right when I finished twisting open the cage on my last one the cork flew straight into the ceiling without touching it. Please tell me what I did wrong? Ready for your enlightenment!

I'm assuming you're joking, but I've seen serious harm occur with corks (think ER on Christmas). I even see bartenders at fancy beer bars and taprooms fail to place their hand over the cage while unwinding it.

Be careful, friends.

I have. The nice folks from 3f pouring A&G didn't seem to have any problem with errant corks.
 
Opened an A&T last night. My previous two experiences had been good to "eh" with it. I found it way too earthy in the past.

A couple of years later, I was blown away. Burnt match/oak/preserved lemon on the nose, with a ridiculously smooth, oak creaminess and lemon and lime flavour. Dry as anything. Now I get the hype. I have one left which I'll be opening soon I think - no point letting it age further.
 
Opened a Herfst this weekend. Plenty of carb (feel like I've heard about a lot of still bottles) and drinking quite nice. Minty nose, opened up quite a bit, we decanted about a third of the bottle. Reminded me of a funky old Iris in a lot of ways.

*Paired w/ Speedy Romeo's "The Dangerfield"--Pork and Veal Meatballs, Ricotta, Bechamel, Garlic Chips

So what does 40 year old lambic taste like LambicKing?
To me, it was great, but unlike any g(u)euze I've had before as I'm sure anyone here could imagine. Barely a trace of carb in the glass (faint hiss when cork was breached), nice heavy oak, subtle lemony brightness, but dominant characteristics were distinct nuttiness and smooth, slightly viscous mouthfeel...very sherry/port-like, even at 5% ABV. Very cool experience.
