That may be true, but I still didn't care for it. I'd drink regular CR over this any day.

So just adding the cherries to the same beer made it super sour for you? I bought a few of both and drank Kriek a few nights ago. Looks like I'll be popping the CRG tonight to find out, given Your Palate Mileage May Vary.

CRK is definitely not just Cuvée René Gueuze with cherries added.

I stand corrected. I meant same base beer, but not really sure that is correct either.

Kind of -- CRK is ~6mo old lambic with whole sour cherries added into 10,000 liter fouders where as CR Oude Gueuze is a blend of 1/3 old lambic that is at least 2 years old and 2/3 young lambic that is at least one year old.
 
Same lambic, sort of. Not sure how old the lambic in Kriek is, but it's likely not a blend of 1, 2, and 3 year olds. Oh, lambic pedants.

"In order to produce Oude Kriek Cuvée René, the cherries ferment in a lambic that is at least six months old in huge 2,640 gallon oak barrels called foudres. After six months, this traditional kriek is bottled in corked 75 cl bottles."

Not sure if there is a big MN contingency in this thread but I've seen the CRK on shelves here lately from 12.99 to 15.99.

I've scooped a couple so far, am I gonna regret not cleaning out all the shelves or will this be a regular (yearly?) release sort of thing?

It is released regularly in Europe and given they have label approval i would imagine we will see it regularly as well. Either way, I still bought a case cause, yum.

Got ya, thanks. I figured it would be fairly regular and I doubt it will go quick in this market. We have Quetsche sitting on shelves year round it seems.
 
I have this horrible image in my head of many Cuvee Rene Krieks being drainpoured, because they get purchased by drinkers who typically buy the sweetened Lindemann's **** and don't like how the beer is sour.

Lots o love for CR Kriek on here, but honestly was as close to a drainpour for me as a lambic has ever been. Way too much acetic acid on this one for me. Take CR, blend it 50/50 with Jacobins Rouge and bam! Instant CR Kriek!

Still crushed the bottle. Just wasn't love at first sight for me, and I don't see the acids cleaning up on this.

My palette sucks though. So ignore me.
