I dont see the point in getting frustrated with people talking about beers becoming available for sale online regardless of which shop is offering it. Isnt that part of a lambic discussion? For some folks, that sort of info is greatly appreciated.

Would it be better if a seperate thread was started exclusively for lambic online restocking/sale notifications? Then, the frustrations of getting "shut out or missing out" can be kept inside there too.

I think the ridiculousness being spoken of was the fact that hundreds of bottles went in a matter of minutes, not that someone posted that it was available. Or maybe I misread.

I didnt mean to single you out with my post buddy. It just seems like its a related topic that might be better suited for its own thread. Seemingly everytime stock becomes available online somewhere for something an otherwise interesting discussion gets derailed and ive seen it cause frustration for some people. It would also clean this thread up for people who want to talk lambic but dont care about buying online.

In terms of gueuze, at least Cantillon isn't really any better or worse than 3F, Tilquin, and Hanssens (when they are on). Not that people haven't already started catching on to Tilquin and 3F. We're pretty much ****** on the fruited stuff though.

Short version: Girardin and its U.S. importer don't want BIAB/Etre cutting into their established importing channel.

It's my understanding that this is all on the brewery, not the U.S. importer. When I talked to the importer they said that they had asked Girardin to send over some bags in a box for their really good customers and they said no because it was mean to be a local beer. They also said they haven't asked Girardin to ask the webshops to stop selling to the U.S.

By this definition, one might believe that the only distinction between OG and OGV from a given vintage is that Armand himself cellared one and the other went to customers to cellar.
I think its more sophisticated than that.


I would be really suprised if just any old bottle from a specific vintage was the same as an OGV from that vintage based on this selection process (and my anecdotal experience). If I am wrong here...

As we wrote on L.I, each batch of geuze has the potential to be either OG or OGV. There's no change in recipe or anything. What goes on between bottling and release is anyone's guess as to the decision process. Insofar as every blend of geuze is different, then I guess it's unique in that way.

So I noticed some trade lists for magnum bottles of Cantillon Grand Cru popping up.

I can't find any info here or lambic.info, does anyone have a scoop on this? I'm guessing they are brewery only? Price/limits?

Generally, yes. Because it doesn't cost you anything extra to reserve the bottle (other than the price of the bottle, if purchasing anything over 25 euros). That **** went quick though. Saw a hundo of a bunch of the bottles, then came back from a run, and GONE.

It's pretty astounding how fast it all went. Etre posted on Facebook, which I'm sure is how the world caught it. I set their Facebook to send me notifications, but I don't get the notification until over 20 minutes later, which is useless.

Honestly, I prefer Cantillon Classic to Beat. I think New Glarus Vintage 2014 is one I prefer to Cantillon Classic. My favorite American gueuze.

Y'all are gonna hate me for this, but I recently had a 2014 Rueuze and I thought it was AWESOMELY funky and mineraly. Super nice.

It has always baffled me how cheap lambic/geuze is in the country it's made, and how ridiculously expensive the average price point for AWA is here in America.

I was a big fan of Allagash Cuvee D'Industrial. Not overly sour like 99% of American Sours. Nice funk and mineral quality.
