Would it be creepy to FaceTime chat with you friend while they hunted lambic in japan and could show you what's on the shelf?
In Japan, that is not creepy.

Just digging up an old post. I really, really did not like Intense Red "fresh." Had it two weeks ago and, well, it's improved a LOT. Anyone else?
Has anyone bought any lambic from Japan? I have a friend living there and she's coming back stateside soon and was curious.
I know I've seen some Cantillon and Girardin in Osaka back in 2010 and saw the posts in here about the baby fou's, but has the game changed there at all? I'm just hoping to land a few bottles I cant grab in my area.
I can help with Tokyo, was there a month ago, not sure where your friend is located.
Hubert Van Herreweghen's Geuze en Humanisme, Wild Brews by Jeff Sparrow, LambicLand by Tim Webb, Jef Van Den Steen's Geuze & Kriek, and probably a ton of other untranslated stuff not on my radar that I hope someone will chime in with. Also Baudelaire on faro and diarrhea.Any have some suggestions for any books about lambic/gueuze? Would love to have a few on hand

Also the newly-released American Sour Beers by Michael Tonsmeire is a great read.

I believe the reg. gueuze is sweetened. So knowledgeable ones, what's the difference between Lindemans Cuvee Rene and the Gueuze? It it just US vs Belgian labels?
cheers!

While we're on the subject of Lindemans, does the Cuvee Rene Kriek see any US distro, or is that a Belgium only thing?
Did you buy that from me yesterday at Cloverleaf? This is the first time I tried the Kriek. I've done the OG before numerous time. This is pretty darn good.
Once uncaged, the cork raped my ceiling with the force of a f4 tornado.

Girardin 1882 Black Label, and [hopefully] Tilquin soon
Nope! You're gonna let us know here. Right?
Europe only
We get it in Australia. There's a heap of it on the shelf here at the moment. Pretty sure it's a legit import too.
Cuvée René Kriek or just the sweetened Kriek? That'd be the first time I heard if it outside Europe on shelves.
My parents live in Kobe so I was in Osaka last winter and scored plenty of lambic. There is a spot called ohtsuki (sp is off) that is her best bet. They had all the shelf loons but nothing too crazy. I spoke with the author of craft beer in Japan and he said the beer and lambic scene is blowing up so it'd be hard to find the nonshelf stuff. Ohtsuki is easily accessible by train. Another spot is called craft beer bar (I think) and is easier to get to (right near the main train station) but doesn't have the loon selection. Regardless, solid lambic shouldn't be too hard for her to find! Let me know if you have any other questions.Currently in Osaka, but she will be visiting friends in Tokyo for a week before she moves back to the states. I'd appreciate any pointers.
Does anyone know the story behind the Lindemann Cuvee Rene? Who blends it? I'm assuming this is blended from the same lambic/wort that Armand/Pierre Tilquin use in their gueuzes? Is there anything different?
