So the 2013 batch of mamouche is seriously lacking in the elderflower department. Drank one with the wife for the V day as it is her all time favorite beer. she actually asked me if i was sure this was mamouche. She wasnt impressed, but i really liked it. Reminded me of a slightly less sour but more oaky de cam lambiek.

is De Cam worth the $38 price tag? sorry if it has been asked, but there is a lot of posts in here.
De Cam Framboise I would buy at almost any price. Beats Rose de Gambrinus, beats Framboos. As for other De Cams, well, it's lambic, so your mileage will vary. I'd say spend the $38 just this once and see what you think. IMHO there are De Cam vintages that are generally superior to Cantillon and 3F, but on the other hand I know people have had bad (or not as good) experiences with recent De Cam vintages.

As HenrikO said, there are some people who haven't had great experiences with the recent vintages that have come to the states on the Oude Lambiek De Cam front. Reports of oxidation and general "meh" feels abound. But I love De Cam with all of my heart and their Framboise is the best out there. So is their kriek(en)lambiek.

I didn't want to tell anyone about the De Cam Kriek Lambiek 'cuz I wanted more bottles for myself. Nice job, SeaWatchman.

Had Framboise Friday and it wasn't good. I want to say metallic, but I really don't remember. The Kriek was really bad.

Maybe Photekut remembers more than I do, but I kinda doubt it. ;)

The geuze was good, the lambic was fan-freakin-tastic. For $38, I'd still rather have 2 bottles of Tilquin.

"Lambic" is the Belgian word for "bottle variation", I guess.

I'd buy the Kriek, Framboise or Special at that price if it was available locally. I would not buy the Oude Lambiek unless it was a vintage bottle and I doubt that is the case.

Did anybody who mentioned the 2006 doesjel 750ml end up opening one? I have a few in the cellar and was wondering on their carbonation status. reading through BA reviews some seem to be medium carbed while others mention champagne like carbonation. Also are the 750mls the synthetic cork or real cork, I believe the 375mls from 06 were synthetic.

infi Etan tehzachatak ?

Didn't end up opening it yet. I'm pretty sure my 750 has a natural cork, but I don't have it in front of me right now. SOON (this weekend).

It would be the only known one with a natural cork then (from 2006)....

Is the syntetic cork really a bad thing? I had Malvasia Rosso wich has a syntetic cork and it was really good so for myself i dont have a bad experience with thoses. Maybe people had other experiences with other vintages?

Probably a better thing in terms of long term cellaring, no? At least in some ways, you don't have to worry about disintegrating down the line? I don't know what it means in terms of O2 permeability, etc. though. SeaWatchman?

I've had a few 2006 Doesjel 750s over the years and they all had syntentic corks, including the one I have left. All the ones I've opened in the past 2 years have had decent carbonation and have been fantastic, albeit expensive.

Good thing with wine.

3F has been the only ones ot use the synthetic corks as far as I know, and for the most part the beers have been inferior to their non-synthetic offerings.

So are the synthetic corks really that bad seeing that they seem to hold carbonation? I only ask cause I got an 06 vintage with the synthetic, which I was told is no good. Sounds like a good experiment for the science thread.
