I’m farting around the site and stumbled upon this thread and subsequently Etre.

Explain this to me like I’m a child, because shipping seems insane. Do you guys just load up boxes and then ship at the same rate? How does this all work?

You can optimize shipping (Etre at 25kg/90 Euro , BiaB at 30kg/100 Euro) where the cost works out to roughly $6 - $9 per bottle shipped. Its not too bad. Prices are pretty decent compared to what you would pay if you could ever find on shelf in USA.

You just have to figure the shipping cost as part of the bottle cost. In some cases shipping may be half or even more of what a bottle costs. In most cases, it’s still cheaper than cheapest shelf prices in the US, especially when you consider tax.

3F OG value packs come out to like $16 per bottle shipped. They are $30 plus tax on the shelf here

Definitely one of the better deals. I remember them coming to about $18 per last time I ordered one, a few years back. Versus $21 on the shelf after tax. Then again, I haven’t seen it on the shelf in Wisconsin in probably 5 years.

Had a VAT109 last night. FFFuuuuu this was good. Not as delicate as the 50N, but still very good. Text book Boon woodiness with a hint of cognac, lightly funky, light lemon, medium acidity.

Would bang regularly.

Agree, had one last month and it was fantastic. I love the whole Vat series but this is up there with 44 as the best.

Props to my 23 month old for the 4am wake-up

Yeah that's the real thing, without ordering from Etre I wouldn't have any Cantillon Gueuze from the last like 3 years. The price differential is a lot less than it used to be, but it's basically the only way to get anything.

I miss the days of being able to get seasonals on there too, oh well.

Had one recently and loved it. Mine was very mineral and funky.

Yeah, I know of one other place in town that has a heap of them. Might just buy them out. I am thinking this will go well over time.

tommyguz talked me into splitting a girardin volume pack a couple years back and I am honestly pissed I didnt turn around and buy another one just for myself. I think 75cls came out to $13 or 14 after shipping. A couple weeks later he spotted 375’s on the shelf for $15 a piece. Pretty much immediately after that we went to order more and the price got hiked up on BIAB too.

Ouch! And I thought it was expensive when it was over 7€ here; granted, $20 is still cheaper than many American wild ales :(
You have to remember that’s nyc prices. I’ve seen them as low as $11-12 although recently saw a volume pack for ~$60 and talking to the guy who ran the shop he said their prices have gone up so idk

Filling up my Etre box and need some advice - Oud Beersel Oude Kriek - worth it? I don't think I've ever had and the price seems very decent for a 750ml kriek.
