I agree with this in spirit, but my concern is letting beers go way past their prime. When I was taking stock this weekend I found a few that were probably quite good a few years ago, but are now likely a damn mess like my '09 Imperial Stout Trooper. Also, I have no idea why I bought 4 ******* Stone IRS in 2012.
I have a simple system to avoid this; I don’t buy stouts.:)

Did gud. And goes great with Ghent Mussels.

Wow, I really appreciate that. I think I'm going to be sharing one with primebeer tomorrow, though. Still, wow. That's the kind of old school TB generosity that would make tosh proud.
Now if you get that Iris, yet drinking with primebeer, you must give the Iris away to an underprivileged homeless kid otherwise you'll look like an ******* around here. At least that's what The Super Bowl Squares 2019 thread has taught me.

Is there a special 1-4 digit code that we should know to get admission to this "tasting"????? It could also carry over from another thread if you wanted it to
No but I will he offered disguised hints during the entirety of the meetup, so if quirk6 and anyone else that shows up pays attention, they might have some sort of edge.

Jk.

jtclockwork and i drank one last week and the carb was definitely a little excessive as well which i felt muted a lot of what was going on. but its funny you say it was saison like, the Gooikoorts we had wasn't like that but the bottle of Rhubarb/Apricot was all saison! Framboise Vlier on the other hand!! i absolutely loved it!
I agree. The Vlier was terrific. Rhubarb/Apricot was weird and tasted like an odd saison. Gooikoorts was good, but not as good as I expected given the early hype.

OK guise, primebeer gave me another chance to drink his lambic & this time I didn't screw it up. A&G Vintage mag, A&G & 2005 OGV.
It had been a few months since I had anything from 3F, so this was a treat. The regular A&G was incredibly bright & vibrant. Vintage A&G tasted amazing, really musty & dank. And as it sat & opened up, additional nuances developed...incredible beer. Now as for the 2005 OGV, Etkin warned us the provenance was a bit suspect. And sadly, it had a lot of apple cider vinegar, also balsamic vinegar characteristics. It was awesome to have OGV for only my second time, it just wasn't particularly good.

But, I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to drink such amazing beers. And for primebeer for doing his second lambic share in 1 week...what a guy. :)

Great hanging out man! Had a nice cameo from lambandtunaphish Abitker and HopStunna and it made for a fun evening.

Complementing @Phin’s notes, the A&G and A&G Vintage mag were a great experience and the ‘05 OGV of suspect Italian provenance was interesting but not very good. Overall, it was a great night and I look forward to meeting more TB’ers over some nice lambic again in the near future. Cheers

Sure, I don't come and a bunch of other people show up. I feel like there's a message there...
